View Full Version : We're Jealous & Pathetic But We Need Our 5 Minutes

LOL

For those of use who cannot compete with the productivity of the big sim-soap producers this thread is for everyone else to post a pic or five with a li'l bit of background yarn.

Every picture tells a story, right?

I was watching the Abelard family go about its business and a scene caught my eye and I snapped it. So poignant.

From left to right we have:

Ricardo Abelard, Meadow Thayer, Kerie Abelard, and Chuck Thayer.

That's a lot of non-Abelard's in the Abelard house, huh? It's worse, Ricardo isn't even an Abelard; he's not the son of the recently deceased Abelard heir, intead his father is the lothario Tallin French ... but he carries the Abelard name and that was good enough for him to inherit a substantial estate. All his step-siblings on the Abelard branch of the tree are sisters so he alone carries the burden of the family name. Like his genetic father before him, Ricardo is a devoutly romantic character. At college he had lovers in every dorm and in one or two senior common rooms as well. Graduating, barely, his ambition was simply to have as much fun as possible with the impossible to spend fortune he would soon inherit. But Leonardo Abelard had not sired any dull sons. Adil Abelard, whom Ricardo had called daddy left a will that stipulated that his only "son" should marry as a condition of inheritance.

Meanwhile there were two daughters, Pansy and Salvia. Pansy, the eldest, had married well and was playing happy families. Salvia was ... well, a bit of a dyke. Salvia came home from Penn State University with Meadow Thayer and they had moved into the spare room. Meadow was intent on become a Shtar ... darlink; and yes, she affected a totally silly accent. She spent hours every day before the mirror and had, Ricardo, suspected, only hooked up with wealthy heiress, Salvia, in the hopes of getting enough money for a plastic surgeon. As if that wasn't atrocious enough, Meadow had adopted a foundling, Chuck; every movie shtar has to have a child, darlink, but carrying vun to term is sho bad for zhe vaist ... beshides, adopting an urchin is sho gut for vun's career ...

Meanwhile in an almost obscene inverse parody of The Graduate, Ricardo had dosed himself up on a potion he'd obtained from a dodgy looking gypsy and plighted his troth with a woman who was old enough to be his mother. Although he added her to his increasing row of bedpost notches, she rebuffed his long-term ambitions and he was obliged to consult his address book. Enter Kerie, a girl whose dorm room he had gotten to know quite well. He invited her to the funeral, splashed around a lot of the old gypsy philtre and ... well some of the toilets needed some serious brushwork in the ensuing days. Ricardo swallowed the bitter medicine and married the poor girl before she realised what she was letting herself in for; although she seemed quite pleased with the drophead coupé in the garage ....

So there we are! An incorrigible Cassanova at breakfast with his step-sister's undertalented sho-biz wannabe, dyke girlfriend, the wife he married solely to inherit a substantial estate and a grubby little oik with no manners, no breeding but lots and lots of potential ....

I do.

You are not pathetic, Mirelly. You are funny and witty and I always look forward to your posts. You make me laugh out loud.

You too, Babe ...

Actually, we have a lot of funny, and fun, people on this site.

OK, I did mention something about going to bed. Guess I should suit actions to words.

Bye now.

Well, I'm definitely jealous and it's my neighborhoods that are pathetic because everyone one of my families in all my neighborhoods are ignored and forgotten because of the Errol Waring family. I'm going to log out and go hunt through my vast collection of sim family photos to see if there's anything that was once upon a time interesting and that I can still remember what the story was about...and that didn't involve Errol, Harcourt or Emmeline. :p

OK, this is an edit: I looked at my picture folders. It's ALL Emmeline, Errol and Harcourt. Drat! I deleted some neighborhoods to make more room on my harddrive. :o I found one picture that, while Emmeline-related made me laugh a little. It's Duke Sidewalker, the private detective turned vampire who married the woman (Candida) that Emmeline's father George had an affair with, the same woman who conspired to get the family fortune by having Emmeline's brother falsely accused of murder. Anyway, I don't wish to retell Emmeline's story here. And it turns out when I try to post this picture I've already done so  , so all I can do is link it. http://forums.worldsims.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=1601&d=1131679634
Although he doesn't look like it in this photo he is actually very happy, celebrating buying a bathtub which was a big desire that sent him into the gold.

Hmm wonder if going to My Computer, then right-clicking the drive that's not opening and clicking on "open" would do anything. I had a faulty CD-RW drive that wouldn't open by pressing the button, and that was the only way I could open it for a while.

Could you possibly move the files to a regular computer and play them on that? I'm desperate for the story to continue. :o

Since this is a sim soap magazine thread I'll add my latest little woe. Harcourt's castle can no longer be entered. I wanted to move it to a different neighborhood. So I moved it to the bin then went to another neighborhood and planted it there. It's planted. It looks pretty. But when I try to enter it (in build mode) the game crashes. It was just too big and monstrous a castle, I guess. Too bad.

Fortunately, using the little bit of grey matter I still possess, I had moved Harcourt's family out of the castle first. So they're safe in the bin, waiting for a much more modest and workable home.

D'ya know ... that is a so un-blonde thing to say  The correct answer would be that you had trouble with the thingy and tried to prise it open with a nail file and a piece broke off so you glued it back with super-glue and now you're quite certain that it'll never open again

Seriously, though. I thought we'd fixed that problemo?

babewithbrains_14
05-08-2006, 03:07 PM
Nope. I tried the paper clip thing - my whole family did - and since i told my Dad, and he's had a go at it. It's being quite stubborn. Looks like to the nearest repairman goes it.

My nail files are all soft ones, they bent as soon as I tried. And I can't find my metal one. It might be down my sofa. I did try a bent earring - I had to use my old Halloween party ones - thus sacrficing my pumpkin bells in the process - and almost broke some of my best studs, but then I realised I was using the spesh studs from South Africa and that wouldn't be one of the bestest ideas now, would it?

You should be able to use Manage Attachments. It's about halfway down the screen when you do a "normal" post, which I can't do at work anymore. Grr.

Anyway, click that and you should get a popup window that lets you add up to five attachments. Browse for the pictures you want (one per slot) and click Upload. Then wait a varying amount of time depending on your computer (mine takes forever since I have dialup) and voila! Pictureness.

Close the window, write what you want to if you haven't already, and then submit your post.

Here's my current soap opera. I just started all over as I keep getting tired/bored/distracted by other things and lose my train of thought. Here's what I'm starting with . . .

This is Glynna Vaux:
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i234/duzegrl/GlynnaVaux.jpg
She's a family sim currently majoring in Economics at Sim State. Her life time want is to graduate three children from college.

This is Morgan Chagney:
http://i73.photobucket.com/albums/i234/duzegrl/MorganChagney.jpg
He's a romance sim currently majoring in Art at Sim State. His life time want is to "Woohoo" with 20 different sims.

Little do they know they're life is planned out for them. They'll graduate, move into an apartment building with several other sims, fall in love after some drama (I'll have changed him to a fortune sim by then, maybe), get engaged, buy their own home, get married, and have children. Then I'll carry on several generations before I get tired of that family and I'll start ALL over AGAIN!

I bought that graphics card last year for my Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 and it sure doesn't do too bad with Sims. It's been a good investment. Also, thanks for the compliment on my sims. :D

Thanks! I love those skins, they're from Enayla. They do make such an awesome difference in even the townies, especially with the addition of Haleane's default eyes. They look like a whole group of different people. It's fabulous!

Looks like Enayla to me.
Good eye! They're my default skin tones and I have Haleane's eyes in for defaults too.

They really are gorgeous, DuzzyGirl. Besides the skin and eyes, the hair looks good, too. If you have realistic skin and realistic eyes then getting the right hair is even more difficult. Especially for guys. Good job.

Wow, those are really beautiful Sims!! :)

My Sims aren't doing a whole lot. Well, okay, of course they are. LOL But it's just the same thing they did yesterday, and the day before, and so on. I'm starting to get a little bored with them, if it's possible.

The latest scandal in River Valley: Hannah Yokel was marrying her true love, Jake Marley. Jake is a bit of a cad, had many girlfriends through Uni, including Hannah's roommate Nadia. He flirted with Nadia 1/2 way though the reception, and so the Marley's had the shortest marriage in River Valley's History. What neither of them knew (and I had totally forgotten until the next day) was that Hannah was pregnant, with TWINS!! So now she is an unmarried, unemployed mother of twins living in her parent's small home, looking for a good sim to love her and her little girls.

Pic #1: Jake before the wedding. (Forgot to put the walls up before I snapped the pic, sorry.
Pic #2: I, Hannah Jade Yokel, take thee, Jacob Marley Jr., to be my lawfully wedded husband. . .
Pic#3: Hannah: (Slap) How dare you flirt with an old flame, on our wedding day! We haven't even cut the cake yet!
Jake: "Oh yeah? Well, How dare you slap me! (Slap!)
Hannah: "Get out Jake! I never want to see you again!"
Pic #4: Hannah cries in her mother's kitchen after a sleepless night. No one has even bothered to clean the dishes.
Pic #5: Hannah's mother Cara tries to comfort her. Cara didn't like Jake anyway and attacked him even before he humilliated Hannah.

This house has been seen in a couple or more of my piccie-illustrated ramblings. The last occasion was when India had been freshly widowed and there was some suitably Mirelly-esque type comments concerning the photographic evidence of her fickly displayed simmisery.

Anyway. I like the house a lot. It has altered very little since it was first built though there have been a number of subtle alterations and slight expansions and I was snapping away with the intention of posting it in the House Brag Thread ... until I took this image and thought that I had screwed up the rear elevation's pretty roof-line in the last minor alterations (the new kitchen put in just prior to India's hubby's date with Grimmy) .... The works were all carried out at the rear of the house; specifically in the middle of the back and this explains why the roof went all sort of cockeyed.

I have mostly now fixed it, but am hanging back before psoting some pics to see how the house plays as I took the opportunity to make many very slight improvements to layout and room usage. Meanwhile, I give you a pretty house with a ghastly back end.

NB The house is one of half a dozen very large plots on the coastal road: First Avenue and is thus the premier residential location of my neighborhood.

sims are blind :D

He comes home from work and finds his wife in the cellar (pale as a ghost) admiring her (apparently) new coffin ... and all he wants to talk about is?

Yep. Is there any beer in the fridge!

I mean! It's this kinda stereotyping that can give out all the wrong impressions :p

Just thought I'd get in on the fun...

Dunvegan Bay

There on the edge of, Dunvegan Bay, crouching like a dark, carnivorous beast, lies the once elegant summer home of a long dead Wall Street Robber Baron. No longer the playground of the pampered rich, it now serves a much different purpose...(Picture 1)

Through the rusted gates and up the wrought iron stairs await the caretakers of the old Victorian pile...(Picture 2)

Joe and Agatha Crumplebottom...(He’s the brother of the ubiquitous downtown denizen, Mrs. Crumplebottom) What is their story? Why are they here?? (Picture 3)

Sacharissa
05-31-2006, 07:33 PM
And just what is this place? The main floors are comfortable and well appointed...(Picture 4)

But the attic area is worn and spare with few creature comforts. (Picture 5)

Welcome to the Dunvegan Children’s Home...ready to house the poor orphans and unwanted children of Dunvegan Bay.

Established by the Crumplebottoms, the Children’s Home currently houses the Pevensie children - orphaned when their parents died of a mysterious rapid-aging disease (at least they died in a Platinum mood) - and the newest inmate, Sam Ferris, whose mother was killed in a freak satellite accident. (Picture 6)

What challenges will they? What joys and sorrows? Will they be able to overcome their difficult childhood and find happiness and success in their future?

And what about the Crumplebottoms? Are they in this out of the goodness of their hearts? Or do they have other motives? More sinister motives?? Only time will tell...
