Do you have the right disk in the drive? The game runs off a certain disk, and now I can't remember which one. It's either the first, or the last, disk. It's been awhile since I only had the basic pack.

Assuming you paid for it and it's a legal copy, it should work.

Unless your CD drive isn't working. Have you tried to play another disk in it, just to check?

I'm not sure if this applies to yur problem as well but in another thread Mirelly Says to Go to:

1. My Computer
2. Right Click on CD Drive (tipicly drive 'D:')
3. Go down and click on the thing that says "Use with DLA"

This should now be unchecked
If it is try to play the game again.
If it DOES NOT work i suggest rebooting the computer and repeaing steps 1-3 then reboot again
I hope this helps!
Nick
P.S. let me know if it works

I have a very big problem with the sim 2 also. i have tried to install it and when it gets to the 2nd disk it just kinda freezes and it won't continue the installation. and i know that it is not the disk because i have bought a new one and it did the exact same thing. Does anyone know what is wrong?

P.S. I forgot to mention this yesterday, for the sake of keeping people from getting confused, when you have a topic that has absolutly nothing to do with the original one, please start a new thread

Your issue and the original one are nothing alike

try re-copying disk 1 -

when you were copying that disk over, did windows report some sort of problem?
when you copy it over there are 18 files in disk 1 that should be in that folder if they are not you should recopy the whole folder.
If AutoRun.exe (it is the one that has the sims 2 icon) is not on the disk itself, you need to return the game to the store and get a new one.
(there are two autorun files on disk one .exe and .inf)

ok, i double clicked on the folder that says autorun, and it has the EA sign next to it. It brought up the box at the begining of the installation where it asks you what launguage(either english or spanish), so i went ahead with the installation as if it were with the disks, but what do you do when it get 23% done and asks for the 2nd disk. If you dont use the disks then how does this work, i tryed to put the second disk in and it wouldnt take it. So now what am i supposed to do?

Thanks allot, Caleb

let me sleep on it maybe I can come up with something tommorow...For now the best I can tell you is re-copy the rest of those disks and make sure all of your folders are named right, I don't think there's anything wrong with your drive.
