I read this message by J. M. Pescado

Is your problem specifically the "No DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics
adapter" error? Under the assumption that you are not an idiot and
have, in fact, installed all of the relevant drivers and DX9c as is
required, do the following:

Run DXDIAG: Flip over to the display tag, and run all of the Direct3D
tests. If the DX9 test completes successfully, then I'm baffled. If,
however, the test FAILS, or is SKIPPED, please check, still under the
"Display" tab, the section marked "Drivers". What does it say for "DDI
Version"? The correct response SHOULD be "9 (or higher)", but it could
potentially erroneously say 7 or 8. This is bad, and is what is causing
your problem. If this is the case, indicate so here so I can walk you
through the voodoo debugging solution.

He said that the DDI version on the computer should be "9 (or higher)"
I have looked through everything, and all seems to be right on my computer
except I have DDI version 8. Please help me fix this problem. Below is a HUGE list of my computer info. that I think is what you all need to see in order to tell me what is wrong with my computer and why it wont let me play my game. The Sims 2 is completely downloaded on my computer, but it wont let me play. Like I said before: I have looked through everything, and all seems to be right on my computer
except I have DDI version 8. Please help me fix this problem.

Here is my computer info in black:

Assuming that the person you asked before isn't an idiot your error message was the one that they mentioned:

"failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this system! Please make sure that you have a DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer. The appliction will now terminate."

This is a common problem in old or used computers, what you will need to do is install the appropriate drivers for your video card,
Go to google and type in the exact name of the card found in the DXDIAG then add a comma and the word drivers to the end of it, try to find drivers made by the manufacturer of your card. If you install the latest drivers and it still doesn't work you have a problem. Depending on the computer you are using it can be fixed, if it is a laptop you're going to wal-mart to buy a new one, if you have a Desktop computer you are in luck, it will cost you a little bit of money but less than it would to buy a new laptop, you need to buy a new graphics card. MAKE SURE THE ONE YOU BUY IS COMPATIBLE WITH THE COMPUTER! if you end up buying one that outdates your computer by an era or 2 you're gonna be selling it on E-bay next week. I hope this Helps.

P.S. I had that problem myself thats why I know as much as I do

Also you will want to check with Microsoft to get DirectX 9.0c downloaded. Please let me know if my help actually helped.

If DirectX 9.0c doesn't work, the card may be too old to use DirectX 9.0c.

I am getting the same message regarding the direct x 9c. I have an older computer (4 yrs) that I use for playing games and I can't play Sims 2 due to this issue. I have enough memory and video card but still no can play. Is there any way to change the DDI version? Thanks for your help.

to 'Let Me Know'
Go to Microsoft to download the latest DirectX version, let's see, - http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/info.aspx?na=22&p=2&SrcDisplayLang=en&SrcCategoryId=&SrcFamilyId=&u=%2fdownloads%2fdetails.aspx%3fFamilyID%3d0a9b682 0-bfbb-4799-9908-d418cdeac197%26DisplayLang%3den

Just Click on that, follow the instructions and download the latest version, Hope you don't have dial-up cuz if you do it might take a while.
