Hi, I have looked in similar threads but I haven't found an answer for this yet. When i put the DVD in my drive to install it for the first time, nothing happens. When I opened explorer to run the setup from the disc, the disc just isn't there. My comp is up to the system requirements for the game. My DVD-drive can locate the lim.ed. bonus DVD but not the real disc with the game on. Please help me, I registered to this forum only to get an answer to this question (quickly, if possible). Thanks.

Are you sure the Optical Drive you placed your Sims 2 DVD disc in is a DVD-ROM?

Yup, bought it a couple of weeks ago brand new, been installing at least 3-4 DVD-rom games before this happened.

Do you perchance have another computer where you can test the disc on?

It doesn't sound promising if you can't even explore the installation disc with Windows Explorer. If it's not possible to check the disc in another computer you could try returning the disc to the store and ask for it to be replaced.

Unfortunately I don't have another computer available. At the store they had a 4-disc set with CD-roms, I could try those instead, or get a new DVD-rom.

Thanks for the help, I'll be back if the other discs give me trouble.

Well one other possibility is merely that DVD disc is bad. Take it back to the store and ask for a swap out for it saying that disc has a manufacturer defect

If you bought it at Wal-mart (which I sort of doubt) They will do that with-out even asking any questions...;)
