error problem

i've already installed and used the sims 2 before
recently i installed a new wireless adaptor(if that has anything to do with why it isnt working)
now everytime i try to run sims 2 to play it comes up with the following error sign:
a required .DLL file, DDRAW.DLL was not found
what is this .DLL file and what can i do to make my games run again?

ddraw.dll is a Windows component used by Directx. It can get screwed up by changes to the system.

Can we start by analysing your current system?

Please check the FAQs (see below) for the information you need and then post again with your System Specifications obtained by running dxdiag.

i went to the faq and followed the directions to run the dxdiag and it wouldn't run it says that dxdiag or one if its components can't run. im not sure what to do now then

Oh, my bad! Sounds like you need to repair your Windows installation.

You will need the installation that came with your computer (preferably the Windows XP disc)

Refer to the instructions that came with the disc or see:
