Problem with The Sims 2 - It just doesnt start

I reinstalled The Sims 2 a couple of days ago without any errors, but when I try to start the game nothing happens at all. When I click the icon I don't get a response, and autorun doesnt work when the cd is inserted. I've tried reinstalling it, restarting the computer, updating the sims, updating drivers and everything but nothing happens. I've had it installed on this computer a few months ago with no problems, and I think I may have had the same problem on my old computer, but just got sick of it and gave up trying to get it to work.

I've searched through a number of forums and couldnt find anything which helped.

Any ideas?

For some reason when I log onto my computer using a guest or non-admin profile, it works.

Have your CD inside the Optical Drive.

Goto: My Computer
Right Click the Optical Drive/DVD Drive/CD Drive, Select Properties
Under Autoplay, "select Prompt me each time to choose an action"
