Please help with gameplay problems and troubles! Thank you

I am a sims fanatic! I loved the first sims games and when the sims2 came out I was estatic. Then come to find out the gameplay is very slow on my computer. I have went to seetings and turned down the settings to low. that helped a bit but not much. here are my specs-

system model- Dimension 2400
BIOS- Phoenix ROM BOIS PLUS Version 1.10 A03
processor- Intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU 2.20GHz
memory- 254MB RAM
Page file- 391 MB used, 230 MB available
DirectX version- DirectX 9.0c

Please help and I greatly appreciate it.

My best guess based on what you've posted is that you lack RAM (computer memory). Suggestion is you buy a few sticks and bump it to 1GB and you'll notice a dramatic improvement in speed in both your computer and Sims 2 game performance :)
