alright, how pathetic is this, we're renaming our food beacuse the French aren't supporting the Us in their "Fight for freedom". and yes, for those of you who don't live in the Us we've stopped ordering French Fries and French Toast and started ordering Freedom Fries and Freedom Toast(go figure) at least here they have ;)

Anti French sentiment isnt going to change the fact that they are going to support the US in the vote.
In fact if I were France...I did be more against the US

This is the 2nd thread now about this war or side effects of it. I don't like it at all. Can't we keep this inside one thread?

I've said my peace. I'm not going to comment it anymore. These things makes me feel uneasy and sick. I hate war. War is NEVER a solution. I come here for peace and having a good time. Not to discuss war. :(

You can't be serious... O_o They're actually renaming french fries because the French won't help out? No offence but that's the dumbest thing I've heard in a while (fast-food wise.) Changing the name isn't really going to make the French want help out more than they are.

I love your kittens Soild. :classic:

And about the fries. They never had that name here in the first place, and to rename it - I agree Solid. It's just plain dumbness.

Well, it is rather silly to rename food because we are annoyed with that country...it's kinda like in the old days when diseases were named after the countries you hated, eg. the Spanish flu, the French pox, etc. etc. The Canadians are being rather apathetic too so are they going to rename Canadian bacon, Constitution bacon? :)

Haha! Freedom fries, thats just about the dumbest thing I have ever heard. Don't they have bigger things to worry about than re naming the French Fry??

Sometimes you can really wonder about politicians. Imagine when the EU parliament discussed how big a strawberry had to be or the bending on cucumbers and bananas. *sighes*

Politicians are nuts. All of them it seems.

i have a really good idea! how about we don't rename anything, then all of our blond's wont get confused :p

alapokeygirl
03-23-2003, 09:45 AM
But then wouldn't they be really confused because we renamed them from french fries, to freedom fries, and then back to french fries? They might get a brain overload.

I think that renaming food just because of that is a pretty dumb idea. I just call 'em fries when I order them, just like timz2rules said.

whyd they call them "french" anyway?

Nina: Everyone is daft but thee and me - and I have my doubts about thee. I went on the broads once and could not get the engine started. Finally I asked the manager of the boat yard and he turned the petrol on.

Jake
04-01-2003, 03:55 PM
maybe it was a french dude that started them like that? but it is really stupid to rename fast-food. and freedom fries sound stupider than the conept of renaming them  and what ever else i was goin to say has completely fled my mind :|

SolidSnake_19

I agree, "Freedom" fries sounds pretty stupid. I say just cut out the "French" part of the name if you are going to change it. :p

Jake
04-01-2003, 07:48 PM
heh, i never use the term "french fries" anyway.. i just say fries.

FaeLuna
04-02-2003, 09:46 AM
They were called French Fries by us lazy Americans in the first place because we apparantly couldn't handle saying "jullienned" which means to be sliced up lengthwise like that. That's why we have "frenched" green beans too... but I'm glad they haven't been silly enough to try to get all the food companies to change the labels on the green beans!!! :P

Jake
04-02-2003, 02:47 PM
ohh... thats good info to know Fae :) Glad we know :) that would be kind weird to have freedom green beans :P

You think that's stupid, I saw on the news that in California, they were pouring French wine into the sewers. A WWII veteran sent his award back to France, and now there is this lawsuit that they want the tombstones in Normandy, France to be moved to the Sates!

Right that's enough talk about politics, the war, and who's on who side or who's doing what. As people are from around the world who visit this site, refrain from posting any more about these subjects, as it may be offensive to some people.
