We talk about work stuff now -- his work stuff is always more interesting than my work stuff.

My first husband couldn't be bothered with talking to me or his kids, a very cold and distant person. So now I love it when my husband talks to me. I don't care what he talks about, so long as he's talking. I encourage him.

It's possible we may agree, as you have, to keep the topic clear of work problems when we get home. Depends on the topic.

I'm so glad you found a nice husband. You deserve it! Imagine not having time to talk to your own kids. Brrrr.

Congratulations on your new job, Lynet! That's great.

I'm shagged out from mine. I'm hoping to post to my story this weekend. Right now I just want to sim. :D

Thanks, everyone. I'm very excited and can hardly wait until September. I need to buy clothes and everything. Gee, it's like being a little kid and showing up for your first day of school wearing a new pair of shoes and carrying a new bookbag. :D

Now that my children are adults, their father is making the effort to spend time with them, including visiting his son in Amsterdam. I'm very happy about this, for the sake of my children. They are good people, and forgiving. It's just sad he didn't make this effort years ago.

Does that mean you're going to enter the Short Story comp, SBW? Who (else) is working on a story for the story competition(s) here? :D *muffin-tacos jumps up and down with excitment*

Congrats on the job, BTW, Lynet. And I'm sorry about your first husband. :( But at least he's making some effort to spend time with them now. Better now than never really.

Had a bit of an argument with one of my friends yesterday - wasn't anything serious, just a silly argument over nothing really. But we ended up laughing in the end. Sometimes I'd like to look into people's minds to see how they work. Then I'd know what they were thinking as well. :classic:

Going shopping with my mum after we've dropped in at the stables!

No, just working on my vampire story. Unless Josh wants to bend the rules and let that story enter. Ahem. I do feel I qualify for the "bring people to the site" award at least ... I'm fairly certain PDL, at least, has generated new members.

I don't have any ideas for a new one at present. If I come up with something before June 15 I may enter.

But in the meantime I've posted several new chapters in Veronaville, so enjoy.

I read them. Wow. Anyone who hasn't is missing a real adventure.

Well, it's done. For better or for worse, I ended my Veronaville story. I'd like to know what everyone thinks ... I've been planning for it to end this way and I hope you liked reading it and found it a satisfying story.

It's absolutely fabulous. I've been reading it even as you posted it, one page behind you.

Um, is Lorelei going to marry who I think she's going to marry?

I guess you'll just have to wait and see. I have plans for another installment but I want to actually play for a while.

And, I'm glad you liked it. I think it turned out pretty well.

I'm sitting in the communications building, waiting on my next class. I'm not quite sure what to think of summer school yet. At least it's not so darn hot.

I've been having Writer's Block again, and it's probably why I didn't enter the short story contest. Then again, So a Robot Married a Woman seems to be a collection of short stories, so...

I'm still playing the neighborhood, and looks like there's going to be another baby boom. The youngest child in gen 6 is a toddler; the youngest child in gen 7 is an infant. I also had a couple deaths in Gen 5, but I won't divulge who they were...yet. ;)

I r bored. I have to wait 2 hours between classes. At least I got some nice breakfast. :)

You still have two weeks to write something. No reason not to give it a try. I hope you do. :)

My news is the unexpected arrival of my son, home from Amsterdam. Funny  that I was just talking about it a couple of days ago, but what happened is that his father was visiting him, they were traveling around Europe during the past week, and then when it was time to return to Amsterdam, my son was stopped in Brussels. They told him he could not go back to Amsterdam because he did not have the appropriate residency card. He'd been too long in the country (the Netherlands) and had to go back to the states. So here he is. His employers, back in Amsterdam, are scrambling to get through the monster stack of applications and forms that need to be filled out and processed. They want him to come back. He just got a promotion, too. :(

The Netherlands, apparently, is very slow to process these things. Could be several months. He can do some of the work of his company over the internet, but not all that they need doing.

There are many obvious questions -- like, how could he have been working there without the residency card in the first place? Well, all I can figure out is that some wheels turn very, very slowly.

He sent an email to me from Brussels this morning, and LOL, I met him at the Baltimore airport at 4:30 pm. Total surprise. But a nice one for me. :D

Well, that is a nice surprise. I hope he gets it all figured out.

I posted a story in the short story contest. I didn't include pictures ... I suppose I could edit it to include them.

Anyway, just thought I'd give it a whirl. It's something I was meaning to write anyway ...

Well, maybe just one itsy-bitsy picture of Lorelei's husband. I'm very curious. Unfortunately, further comments not permitted.

Meanwhile, for some reason I started thinking of Rick (substitute D for R and you'll know who I really mean) Francis. I used to get one of his novels for Christmas every year. *sigh* His website says his last novel was published in 2000. I think I have every one of his mystery novels in hardback, since books as Christmas presents tend to be in hardcover :)

Maybe I should just reread them. It's been a few years and my memory of details is not so good anyway. :p

Anyone else around here like his style?

He's pretty good but I find his books a bit repetitive. I like Janet Evanovich better. But if you like horses Francis's books are very entertaining. (And I do like horses!)

I'll post pictures tonight. I have some ideas for shots I'd like to get.

Yay, another story for the Short Story contest! :hyper: I haven't read it yet but I'm going to check it out soon - meaning as soon as I finnish this post. By the way, SBW, can you post a link to your story on the announcement page? Makes your lovely story easier to get to. :)

Come on, Chee-Z, I think you should go for it. It would spice the contest up a bit, with another story in there.

Ooooh, I just want to talk about everybody's stories but the rules say I can't. :sour:  My lips are sealed (for the time being). Well, actually, it's my fingers that I need to keep under controll. :knockedout:

I've tried wrapping duct tape around my keyboard and my fingers. Sometimes it works. And sometimes -- :footinmouth:

I'm eventually recovering from waking up for an 8am class. Maybe I might enter this contest. Alas I need to think of an idea.

The more stories that enter, the merrier (and better) this contest gets! :classic:

Hmm, you know, I've been thinking if I should post some tips somewhere on how to get a story started. It might get a few more people to write something and post it in the library, you never know. What do you guys think? Flip or flop?

I could use some tips. I keep thinking that I should be able to write 10 chapters of something between now and the end of August, but I've got a mental block, (among other things going on. But still...)

How about a thread here in the Offtopic Coffeehouse area?
