The Sims 2 Deluxe - 2 Questions First off, I would like to ask if The Sims 2 Deluxe can count as a "base game" for the rest of the expansions. In other words, instead of buying The Sims 2, can you use The Sims 2 Deluxe and then install expansions? Does it count as the base game? In even simpler words, can you install any of the expansions on top of The Sims 2 Deluxe instead of just The Sims 2? If so, one more question. Since deluxe comes with Nightlife, what if I want to install University afterwards? Will it cause problems, seeing as its not going in order? Or can I choose whether or not to install Nightlife on the spot while installing Deluxe? Thanks in advance. Edit: Would Sims 2 even work on my computer? I've looked at the req., and it should, but I just want to make sure. eMachines T5212 Desktop Computer Windows Vista Home Premium 32-Bit 1GB RAM (but integrated ATI Radeon X200 graphics card, so 894MB) Intel(R) Pentium(R) D CPU 2.66GHz
Yeah, I have the same questions. I sold my copy of The Sims 2 quite awhile ago, but I've been wanting to get back into the game. I unfortunately uninstalled the game before I sold it, and every retailer around is just carrying the Deluxe edition. I can't just add on an expansion pack because I uninstalled the game, so if I purchase Deluxe, can I add on an expansion pack such as University? Also, is Nightlife any good? I saw that it was included with the Deluxe, so I guess I have to get it anyway. EDIT: Also, here are my system specs. Can anyone tell me if it will run well? Microsoft Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2 (Build 2600) 2.0 GB System RAM 2 processors running - Intel(R) Core(TM)2 CPU 6300 @ 1.86GHz 1.86 GHz Performance Rated at 4.89 GHz Video Card: NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE (GeForce 7300 LE) 256.0 MB Video RAM
Wild guess, YES, if we take TS1 as a comparison. But I'm pretty sure it is the same as TS1. The base game is either the "normal" or the "deluxe" version. About Nightlife which comes together with the deluxe pack, and if you'll have problems with university, that depends on a lot of things: 1- Some people say you do not have to install the packs in an exact and specific order as you did have to in TS1's era; 2- Some say you do have to install in the order of release of the titles, and that it is possible to install in different orders (which was not possible with TS1), but people who did try that have to live with the bugs. I prefer to install in the order of release just to be safe; 3- When TS1 deluxe was released, it was a 2 CD pack with the base game and the EP1, integrated during the installation, meaning, you just did one setup process (full game, as it was just one full title), and not two (base, and then ep1); 4- When TS1 Double Deluxe Pack was released, it was a 4 CD pack, with the same CDs 1 and 2 from the deluxe version, plus a CD3 with the EP2, so, EP2 was separated from the integrated installation between the base game and EP1. With 3 and 4, I wanted to say to you that the fact if you will be able to install university before or after nightlife, will depend on how the TS2 deluxe was programmed. I don't know if it is an integrated installation, as a FULL TITLE, or if nightlife will be a separated installation from the base game. With TS1, I bought every release they made, even if I already had the base game. With TS2, I will not do that, because it is very clear now that MAXIS do this not only to users who do not yet have the game, but to make money out of the ones who already have it and buy it anyways, thinking it has something special or different in the release. Other than a little theme or objects collection, it is the same thing, always. But I think this is not your case, so I hope I helped in some way. Also, with TS1, the game becomes a little more unstable with the deluxe version, but it can be corrected if you install all EPs, I think, specially "unleashed". I hope TS2 deluxe do not give you any problems. Byes !!!
I reckon it is. It adds so much to the game: cars, dates, vampires, Downtown, etc. Personally, I think that NL is a must have. Where would your romantic sims be without a car to get to their many dates? :winks: By the way, welcome back, Jill!
Sims 2 Deluxe Problems! I installed the Sims 2 Deluxe version into my computer. I recently just bought The Sims 2 University Expansion pack. But When I try to play the Sims 2 Univeristy... it keeps saying... "You are running the wrong version of The Sims 2. Please Run the Sims 2 Deluxe instead." Is it because I have the wrong disc? OR something else?? PLEASE HELP!
I have this! I have The Sims 2 Deluxe, and had no problems installing further expansion packs-- University, Open For Business, Family Fun Stuff-- until I managed to get a defective version (there are apparently some of those floating about!) of The Sims 2 Pets, couldn't install it (so I had to return it to the store)... but was finally, with the new copy, able to install The Sims 2 Pets. Even though University came out AFTER Nightlife, The Sims 2 Deluxe is still more recent than University, so you do have to play the game with The Sims 2 Deluxe disks instead of the University ones. Or now, I play with the Pets disk, since it came out after The Sims 2 Deluxe.
deluxe is the best you can get if you ask me, i used just the base pack with uni ofb and pets for ages but it stuffed so i sold it and got deluxe and i'd never go back it's like exploring a discovery, like it was aid it does not matter what expansion you put on once the base is on and no you can't choose not to put nightlife on cause the are already together it would be like putting half the base on.
