help - sims plots black! I've just installed the Sims 2 on to my new(ish) computer. The great thing is this time it's actually displaying the Sims' portraits in the line up and stuff but this time whenever I go into a plot the whole thing is black... just the ground though. Has anyone else experienced it?
Um ... we'll need to see the system details of that "newish" computer. I have a "newish" computer in my garden shed ... it's only 10 years old See How do I find out about my computer's specifications?
Ok Processor: Intel Pentium 2.80 GHz Memory: 1016 MB RAM Windows: XP Prof (5.1) Free Hard Disk Space: umm... nufink - ok that doesn't look too good Total Hard Disk Space: 650 MB DirectX Version: 9.0c Display Adaptor: Intel 946GZ Express Chipset Family Driver: name - igxprd32.dll, version - 6.14.0010.4670 date - 14/08/06 Aprox memory: 256 MB
No wonder it won't work Time to clean out your hard drive. Cillit Bang is very good (well that link is funny enough to be worth a look anyway.)
I think those figures are the virtual memory. Many folks make that mistake with dxdiag ... my original link shows clearly how to find the hard disc space figures. I'm still sad I can't allow myself to link to Weebls' (very rude) spoof Cillit Bang toon. (Cillit Bang is also known as Easy Off Bam in the US)
I thought I'd followed the directions properly. Hmm... maybe I just took a wrong turn along the way. You said right-click the drive in which the Sims has been installed to get the info about memory, mine's installed in the D drive and that's what I got from it. But in the C drive it says used space - 73 gigs, free space - 220 gb, capacity 293 gb... That makes more sense right? Why isn't the Sims in there?
My D: drive is my dvd drive, which sounds like thats what yours is, either that or your cd drive. Thats just where the disk is, not where the game is installed. The default directorys are C:\Program Files\EA Games and C:\Documents and Settings\....\My Documents\EA Games.
Oh well in that case my C drive has 293GB in total, 220 of which are free. Anyone got any clues as to what's going on?
