Wow, Lynet, breathtaking. Simply gorgeous. We don't get that kind of floral beauty in Minnesota this time of year, although our leaves do put on quite a show. Thank you so much for sharing! What's new with me is I'm sick. It's been building for three weeks and it's finally here. Wish I was the kind of person who could just catch something and get it over with, but nooooo. So now I'm up at 1 a.m. because I can't stop coughing. The good news? I was right. I like it when I know what's going on with my body, makes me nervous when something new happens, like oh, great, another treat of impending middle age. Like someone I know said, aging ain't for sissies. We're having a huge birthday bash for Witch Baby's 10th this weekend, so my timing is lousy on this sick thing. It's the last year, from what my friends tell me, that she'll want the big party thing, so I'm working to make it special. It's a Scooby doo theme, so "all" I have to do before Saturday, in addition to all the usual party stuff, is come up with a Scooby-oriented game and a mystery for them to solve. 10 year olds aren't as easy to fool as you might think. Also, we're looking into getting her into a different school. I've learned about one in St. Paul for "G&T" kids (that's gifted and talented). My friend's kids go there. Witch Baby just isn't challenged where she is now, and that worries me. She blows away the state average, heck, the test, whenever she's tested, and she says school is easy and dumb. We've been trying to give her school a chance, but they haven't been rising to the occasion. Last year she started their G&T program and although she had to work a little harder it was still a piece of cake. I would love it if she could be in a school where everyone was smart and wanted to learn and she was just another genius among peers. Anyway, sorry to ramble. Lots on my mind. Hope you all are well and enjoying the autumn, unless of course you live in Australia, in which case I hope you're having a lovely spring.
Poor SBW! Have a Kleenex and a hot toddy. For the party ... http://www.mysteries-on-the-net.com/index2.html ... wish I was going, I'd want to be Roooby-roooby-rooo!
Yes SBW i hope you get better for the party. sound like Witch baby is doing fine. I hope it's a great party. I was a child prodigy but nobody wanted to prodigies me.
Gee, SBW! I hope you're feeling better really soon! What a drag to feel sick the week you have to get ready for a big bash! I feel for you!! Hope you're not going to work! Just wrap up with a cup of Hot Chocolate and a good book, and get plenty of rest! Oh, and tell Witch Baby Happy Birthday! Hope it's her best ever!
Thanks everyone. I figure this is the last year before she gets too cool for a party. Next year it'll be a few friends hanging out and playing video games. (Trying to talk the hubby into a Wii for Christmas this year.) I just found out we can't get into the school because we live in a different district. Our district has no such school. But I have heard good things about another school, so I'm investigating that. Still, very disappointed. :(
hope these pictures upload: first is a cat i met this summer and the other 3 are from my niece, Teya's 3rd birthday party. 3 of the 4 are in the general members gallery. me and uploading just don't get along very well
Hi, Michelle I saw two pictures from a birthday party (sweet looking children) and 1 very close-up picture of a cat with very, VERY blue eyes. Great picture!
Hmmm... Where do I start now? I haven't been on here for some time now - lack of time... Anyway. Weather and temperature... There should be somewhere on the internet where you can convert between Fahrenheit and Celcius (centigrades)... A hint: At 0 (zero) C the water freeze. At 100C the water boils. Normal temperature of human body is approx. 37 C. Now. A few years ago. It was very cold where I lived in Tungelsta outside Stockholm. The city just about 35 km away never had it that cold. But the place is in a sort of a "cold pit". I had between 26 and 28 minus...for about a week, and then for a few days in periods!!! That IS cold! Last winter here at our house we had a couple of days/nights around minus 20C (only) The thiong is with the cold on the country side... it's a dry cold. it's actually worse with the dampness around zero... That cold goes through anything and you freeze you butt of. The ideal winter day is a sunny day on the country side, no or just a little wind, and around 7-10 minus. That makes the snow stay crisp and it glitters in the sun. And as my dad always said: "There's no such thing as bad weather - only bad clothing". For the rest. SUCH lovely pics! And that baby... Aaawwwwweeee... Geeezzz.... You guys are busy. I hope you're all well by now. Cya soon... Hugglez to all.
I hope you get better soon, SBW! The party will be great and hopefully you'll find a new school for Witch Baby soon! I'm sorry that the other one was a disappointment. :( Michelle, those pics are so cute. I love the cat's eyes! They are really beautiful. That picture of the cherry blossom is really beautiful, Lynet. I felt all warm inside when I saw it. Lurvely stuff. I've got some pictures for you guys as well. I tried to upload them a few days ago, but some of the pics where too big. So I'll have to post them another time when I've made them a bit smaller in Photo Shop or something. (Which should be soon.) They are of the forrest I live in. The last two are what I see when I look out of my bedroom window and from our balcony. The rest are from May when I was taking a walk and just happened to bring my camera with me!
Nice pics, people. Michelle's blue cat is now adorning my puter's desktop ... I might have to photoshop it though, cos there's a stray loose hair sruck in the inner canthus of its right eye. Thilly puthy (LOL I said puthy ) http://uoem.com/gallery/files/4/9/5/4/bluecat.jpg photoshopped and resized as desktop wallpaper
thanks Lynet, Mirelly Muffin, neat pix. question did the vikings come from sweden, norway, finland or where?
They are from Sweden. Odin was the god who took brave warriors to paradise or What they call Valhalla to drink beer and have fun. The Moon was he's eye that he removed as a sacrifice for knowledge. I think I'm right. However being half Swedish might make me half right. Who were the Vikings? The Viking people came from three countries of Scandinavia: Denmark, Norway and Sweden. They were also known as the Norse people. They were mostly farmers, but some worked as craftsmen or traders. Oh and Viking horned hemets never existed. Yes muffin's Swedish and so is Helen. oops was I allowed to say that Muffin?
NO!!!!!! Just joking. Of course you are. Nice info on the vikings, by the way, Moon. I was just wondering if there were Danish vikings. I googled the viking gods and I found this neat page(click here) it's really interesting actually. Take a look. Who knew viking gods could be so interesting!
All the Vikings who did the rape, pillage and looting thing in olde Brtiland came from Denmark. Anyone who had rowed across the North Sea from Sweden of Norway would have had now left over energy for rowdiness and general debauchery.
What's new with me is I'm freaking out over this stupid cartoon Witch Baby insists on watching right now. It's called Barnyard, based on a movie I skipped for the same reason I'm wigging out now . . . There is a cow named Otis who thinks he's a boy but he has an udder! How stupid do they think people are? I can't get past it. It's just ... weird.
Googles Barnyard ... yikes! It's the TS2 Uni mascot! Is it male? How odd. SBW I sympathise with your exasperation but what can I say. When you live in a country where naked female breasts may not be displayed in public for fear of outraging public decency, it seems entirely reasonable that the notion of showing anatomically correct cartoon male bovines would arouse a bloody riot. To leave off the udder altogether is a whole nudder issue
