Selling pets in the pet store?

My sim just bought a pet store that had dogs and cats for sale in it. Now that she bought it, I can't figure out how to "stock" dogs and cats. I tried bringing pets from home that I had adopted, but that isn't working. Anyone have any tips?

You can't sell pets that are running free around the store, only the ones that a Sim creates. :D

Your pet store might already have these, but all you need are the large square box type stands (I wish I could explain better!), they have a sort of paw design on them I believe, and you can find them under Misc./Pets. Once you have them, you should be able to control things like what animal is on display, and customers will be able to buy from it. :)

As a reminder, or if you don't know, you can only sell to clients things you bought from retailers. I don't know if "retail" is the right word with english versions of the game. Anyway, you can access this type of "buying mode" in the OFB menu.
So, you'll only have to buy from retail the pet's stands and place them at your shop. You can't pick up animals of the street or anywhere else to sell them. Only those which are inside those stands are for you to sell.
To sell animals outside the stands, you have to be the owner of the animal, and even so, you can only sell your pet as "an owner who do not want it anymore or want to make money out of it", not as a business woman, as is the case of the petshop.

No, you actually don't even select the animal for sale; just the type, either cat or dog by either the Cat-Crazy Pet Display or the Doggonit Pet Display. They look like big boxes with the glass enclosure that the animal sits in. Now mark that box like you would any other item you would put up for sale. When you go to play a pet should automatically populate into the box. When someone buys that pet then you need to restock it, just like any other item in your store.

One you start playing that business the owner of the business can click on the display for different options, I'll let you discover those for yourself. :D

What I meant is you have to buy ANYTHING (pets, beds, cars, plants, EVERYTHING) you want to SELL from the "retail buy mode" menu on the top right side of the screen. This menu only shows up when you are in your business location, be it a residential lot or not, and this menu is what I called OFB menu (open for business).
If you purchased ANYTHING on "normal buy mode", like when you buy for yourself (your sims), then you can still put anything for sale using the same OFB menu, just following the screen instructions.

When you buy from retailers, you get a discount, so you can have a profit out of anything you sell. I would do that, 'cause I'm not sure if you get "some money" back when putting a "normal object" for sale. I mean, let's suppose a 8.000 TV set for example. If you buy it normally, you'll pay 8.000, but if you buy from retail, you'll buy it for, let's say, 5970. So I advise to buy it directly from retail, your pets (the stands with a pet box on top), 'cause I don't know if you'll get "some" money back if you tick the stands to yellow (sale mode), in this TV case, I don't know if the game would do 8.000 - 5970 = 2030 back for you, when you decide to sell that TV.

Things highlighted in yellow are for sale, if not, is for your sims to use.

Now, selling things (not highlighted in yellow, I might add) like you said from the "normal buy mode", yes, you can, but not IN YOUR BUSINESS. The game will just ask for you to hit "delete" to get some money back for selling it. In this type of selling you are not a business person (do not own a shop or anything, or even if you own, you're not selling it at your commerce location or the object is a personal one), and you sell something personal to another one, and the price will be lower than what you paid for it, because the game "tags" it as "used". Now, selling objects as a business person, in your business, you can sell things for better profit margins, since most of your objects will be new (purchased from retailers), and personal objects (used), you can also put for sale, so you'll get a better profit getting rid of stuff.
