Help. My white sim had a black baby

Hi. I am new to Sims 2 and totally addicted to it. I think Sims all day when I'm supposed to be working and can't wait to hog the computer at night so that I can explore their wonderful world a little more.

I had such an extaordinary thing happen though with my created Sim woman and Brendan, the townie who wears a kilt in Pleasantview. They are very happily married since I changed him to a 'family Sim'. In fact, they absolutely adore each other and it is so cute to watch as the housework and the children get ignored so they can gush over each other.

They have three sons. The first two are rather plain little boys, both pale skinned with black hair like their mother. But the third little boy was a bit of a shock. I just thought he was somewhat dark as a baby but now he is a little boy he is actually black. My Sim woman might have some explaining to do if this was real life. The truth is, she hasn't cheated. The baby is Brendan's.

Is this a glitch? I must admit he looks like being the best looking of all the children though he looks nothing like them - actually because he looks nothing like them. His eldest brother looks like a monkey and the middle boy has a Pete Townshend nose (Who fans from a certain era will know what I mean). He is also a tidy freak too whereas they are lazy and tend to slump around the house. It's so amusing to see this little darling boy mopping the floor while his silly parents canoodle in the corner and his idle brothers play on the computer.

Anyway, just thought I would share. As I said, I am new to the game so maybe this isn't so unusual but I would be interested to hear anyone else's surprises with their Sim's offspring.

By the way, I also have another family that I play and all their children look the same. No, it's not the first-born glitch because they have different personalities plus I was careful to re-randomise the game before the baby was born. I guess the mother and father just look enough like each other so there is not much scope for variety in the children.

to be honest that has never happened to me, but i wish it would! sounds like a good thing to me:D However, most of my babies do look the same and then grow up to look the same aswell, but at least i dont have ugly babies. All my children just look so fake though

    Happy Simming!!

People have been shot for that, you know *lol*

You probably talk about Brandon Lillard...the wannabe Scotsman.
Why that happened: first of all, if you look at the genetics (SIM-DNA) in SimPE, you see that Brandon is not a 2 (white) but a 3 ( olive? tan? whatever you want to call it) the kind you'll mainly find in Middle-America or in the south Pacific as well as in the Mediterranean Countries. (Perhaps his ancestors were from the Spanish Armada at Trafalgar :D
The Kids skintone now depends on the mother's plus which gene is recessive.
So it's all in the mix, as they say :D :D

Duh! I meant Brandon not Brendan. No wonder my Sims are confused :knockedout:. Thanks for your replies though I will have to ponder the genetic answer a bit longer to understand.

Actually I jumped the gun a bit. Now that my little boy has grown into a teen he looks more like his father though a much better looking version. At least I know that he does belong and that the stork didn't make a wrong delivery. The middle boy though is plug ugly. He still has the nose issue but when he matured he suddenly acquired tattoos. Tattoos might look good on Beckham, but he just looks like a thug. I have made him a doctor too so I hope he won't frighten his patients to death.

Now I have run into another problem for me. I just can't let my grown sons leave the nest. I know I can play them separately but I feel so protective about them and I'm sure their young siblings would miss them. Unfortunately my houses are getting quite crowded. My game slowed down so much last night when I had one of my families visit the other. It was snowing too and the house was full of kids, adults and teens - but what fun.

That would be so cool if it happpened to me and if u have a hard time letting them leave the nestb y do u not just move them out with the young sibling u get it well if u have know of wat i talkie talkie about then u should do that cause I do it all the time . You may have to hire a nanny and miss one day of school?work?but youl find it worth it in longrun and its fun to teach them responsibility............................Also if they die the young siblings will take over anyways it's best to get rid of them except the youngest believe me !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:):D

Die? No way will I let my Sims die. The poor things are destined to live forever - or at least till Sims 3 - thanks to the Inseminator thingy.

This happens a lot in Strangetown too, I believe. Maxis kinda messed up the DNA from the Sims from Strangetown. Perhaps they also messed up some DNA from townies.
