Awful news about Cinders Shana, I'm so sorry. It's so awful to lose a pet. I've lost a dog and two cats. (Plus three hamsters. And like 4 budgies.) I've not got the greatest luck with animals, unfortunately. It's a bit shocking I've been too busy to pop online over the Easter holidays, isn't it?
Thanks Babe and SBW. We miss her, but we do know it was the right thing to do. So what's new with you two? We're just busy with Brandon looking for a job right now. We've been watching the Wild and Avalance games too. Trying to figure out where we're going to go watch the game tomorrow since we don't have cable. Other than that, not too much going on.
Allie, your honeymoon sounds wonderful! I can imagine how awesome that snorkelling was, must have been so pretty underwater. Waterfalls are pretty too - hope you took plenty of pics. Shana, said it on FB but saying it again here, so sorry about Cinders. A similar thing happened with our family cat who was around 18 years or so. It is really hard when you lose a pet that's been part of your life for so long. You did the only thing you could do, and as upsetting as it is, at least you know that Cinders isn't suffering anymore. (((((hugs))))) Michelle, hope your sinus infection has cleared up by now. Sometimes they can be really nasty and make you feel really rotten. Well I'm back at work on Monday after having 8 weeks off. With 2 hospital stays and surgery some weeks ago too, and the Easter holidays (for 2 weeks) as well, it's all added up. Feeling better now though and ready to get back to some normal routines. At least my employer has been understanding about the whole thing, and my absence was unavoidable. I'm a bit worried about going back though, hope I haven't forgotten everything about the job - only started there last November. And can we have some normal weather here?? So far this month we've had strong winds, cold temps, snow, blue skies and sun, now cloudy damp weather. Sheeshers, last April in the UK was glorious and sunny - had temps in the high 60s/early 70s.
No kidding!!! We have a chance of snow here this weekend! Craziness! What's new, some exciting news, Brandon has an interview for Hutchinson PD! Not till 5/3 though! It's far enough away that I'll need to find a new job if he gets it. Or depending on his income, I might be able to be a stay at home wife (stay at home kitty mom) for a few months while we settle in! Score! That would be a nice relief, I've been so swamped here at work that I haven't had time to thinks straight! We're really crossing our fingers. It's also far enough out of the metro that the competition won't be as high. Wish my husband luck!
**taps mic** is this thing on?? I've got an update on the hubby's job search! First, Hutchinson didn't end up working out, he made it through the first test and got called back for an interview, but turned down (just today) for a second interview...he was competing with about 80 applicants. However; we have a 50/50 shot of moving to another city right now! He took a test with Benson, MN on 5/9 (30 applicants). They first only interviewed the top 6 (he was #8) so hubby didn't get an interview and actually got the "Thanks, but no thanks" letter from them. Chief called him up the day after the first interview and said that none of the first six were going to work out so they were going to interview the next 4! So he had his interview with them this morning. They did interview all 4 individuals today. Got a call tonight already that they are proceding Brandon through to the backgrounding process along with one other person!!!!!!!! Brandon is VERY confident with this, we both feel like he already has it. I'm sure they have to background two people, one as a first choice, one as a second in case something happens in the background investigation that they don't like about #1. Brandon really hit it off with the Chief of Police and has had several conversations with him which is why he's so confident about it. We're really crossing our fingers. This is also coming at a time that I found out I might not have my job in about two weeks times and since we'll be moving anyway it might work out perfect as I'll have some unemployment coming in while I look for something new in Benson. OMG...life is suddenly moving very quickly!
Benson will be a good little ways of a move for you won't it Jup? I hope everything works out for you two! I sure do miss my summers as a kid in Minnesota back in the late 70's .My dad and his mom and siblings would all go up to Hackensack every year. So much fun back then !
Oh Uh MANJO! I hope no one reads this and gets a spoiler now! There is a Americal Idol thread for that! I'm staring it out! hahah! It will, almost 3 hours away from us right now. It will be quite different that what we're used to now! Seriously...there's no Target in Benson...what am I going to do?!? LOL; actually I'm super excited. And tired, I'm going to bed.
I've got a job at the local cinema de lux now. It's so exciting lol. That is new in my life. It's good to hear that kind of news Jup
way to go Sailor... sounds like fun even if you don't get to watch the movies. Rooting for you Jup! Hubbie says the best voice didn't win, but give him a couple of years and he'll be a longtime performer. After all, he's still very young. I confess I was partial to "cookie"
Wow Shana, I'm sending good vibes for Brandon and hope he gets the job! Sorry to hear that you may be out of work soon, but yep if Brandon gets the job and you need to move house, you'll be glad of the extra time to do it all. I know that you'll be in a smaller community but will they have good internet access there? Just wondering as one of my buddies lives in a small community and their internet services are !"$%^& to say the least. I could live without stores but take away my internet and I would be crawling up the wall. :hissyfit: Sailor, congrats on the cinema job! What's new with me is that I've applied to university again. Now wondering if I am doing the right thing or if my imagination has run away with me and I'm just fooling myself that at almost 37 years old I'm still young enough to do the whole study thing again. There are only a few places left for January 09 at my chosen university, so not even sure I would get in this round. Have two major hurdles to overcome too even if I get a place (and that's wishful thinking too as I don't have the relevant experience, though it's desirable, not essential). Health clearance is one hurdle (my winter eczema could put a stop to the course as fast as you can say NO) and the other hurdle is that I need to replace and present my Maths exam certificate from eons ago. I could just resit the Maths test but I refuse to. I'm stubborn like that. And I hate Maths.
I will be too if we don't have access. Here's what it says about the telecommunications in Benson per this website So it looks like we can hopefully get DSL...probably won't be as fast as what we have now, but better than dialup. If we do move though it will be a few weeks to a few months before we get it set up though; depends on me finding a job and how much I'll be making...we might have to deal with dialup. Then I might have to be re-evaluating my position here as well. :( Good luck to you Hugz with school! Hope first of all that you get in, and second, that you do amazing! It's a big task, but you can handle it! And Sailor, congrats on your job!
Well unfortunately Brandon did not get the job. He got a letter today and called the Chief to ask if it was something in his background or not. The Chief told him that it had nothing to do with him, they actually all liked him immensely. But the choose the other guy because he is currently an officer with another department and since they are short staffed and want to get someone in quicker that it would be an easier transition to go with the other person. He's of course on their list so that if they have another opening or if this guy doesn't work out they will contact Brandon. He is pretty bummed out, called me in tears. I'm trying to look at the positive. We won't have to move. I don't have to find a new job. And something better will come along for my husband.
Sometimes things like these do happen and then you never know but a better job opportunity could rear it's head! Be ready to grab the sucker when it does! Hope everything works out for you two!
