Installation problems Hi, I need some help/advice on what to do. Ive just brought the sims 2 and have got it home and installed it. When I click on the sims2 icon on my desktop it tell me that: Failed to find any DirectX 9.0c compatible graphics adapter in this system! I ran dxdiag check and I have the following listed: System: Processor: Intel Pentium III - 860 Mhz Memory 254MB RAM DirectX Version: DirectX 9.0c Device: Name: Intel(r) 82810E Graphics Controller manufacturer: Intel Corp Chip type 82810 Approx total memory 4.0mb Version: 5.13.0001.2753 Sound: Name: Intel(r) Integrated Audio Version: 5.10.000.3523 I went to the intel site and tried to download version 82845 but it informed me that 'This system does not meed the minimum requirements for installing the software, set up will exit. I think i dont have enough memory, is this right, and if so, how do I go about getting more? Is anybody able to help, as im not really good at technical stuff like this, i just wanted to play the game! Thanks
You have the Intel 810 integrated Graphics, so short of getting your computer a new graphics cad, you are basically will be unable to play. Note this is a Hardware related issue and not some issue related to software where you can merely download a patch or a new set of drivers to get around it.
Well, that would be the best recommendation. However for short term purposes, you could probably find a decent PCI GeForce5200 (or an AGP card if your computer has one) for a relatively decent price. I'm not sure how expensive stuff are in the UK for you, but hopefully relatively reasonable. If you spend over 60-80, it probably isn't worth buying that card. I think you can get a decent PCI Version of the FX5200 for about 55
I found this http://www.amazon.co.uk/exec/obidos/ASIN/B00026V8N0/qid=1139837788/sr=2-3/ref=sr_2_3_3/026-6936610-7762021 Amazon has AGP versions for under 40 though (Incidentally, Josh ... or anyone in the US, how do I type a sign on a US keyboard ... I'm too idle to go looking so I usually just Ctrl C it from another window ... but frankly I'm getting too lazy even for that ) Why am I using a US keyboard? Cos when it came it TS2 wouldn't pause on the ~ key. No idea if they've changed it since but I changed my k'board to the US settings and have only just gotten used to the swapped around keys @ vs " for example and |, # and are all over the shop!
