    Window mode for sims2?

I was just wondering if the Sims2 game can be played in just "window mode" and not "full screen mode"?

If you're wondering why I prefer "window mode" is because sometimes its easier for me instead of alt-tabbing out sometimes :(

    Thanks in advance :D

    If you have sufficient RAM you can try;

Right click your destop Sims 2 Icon and choose Copy

then hit Ctrl + V ... this pastes the copy onto the desktop

Right click the copy and choose Rename ... change it to something like "Sims in Window"

Right click it again and choose Properties

In the Target field add: -window at the end of the filepath/filename then click OK

NOTE that the hyphen is important and no spaces should be added.

Well ok I tried as you said, and I'm really very dumb at this :(

    At "target" it says "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSBin\Sims2EP2.exe"

So, where do I add the -window? Sorry but Im really dumb at this :p , or did I looked at the wrong place?

No honey you ain't dumb, just careful. Careful is good ... takes its time, but never gets into a mess. :D

    C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSBin\Sims2EP2.exe-window

    :D

Well ok I did as you stated, and it says that the filename is invalid

I think you SHOULD be a space between .exe and window, because in StarAngel13's tutorial on making a custom title page for your story, she explains putting it in window mode, and she says to put after the filename, (space)-w. I'm not sure if it worked because I had no idea what window mode was at the time and I just followed the tutorial, so...I don't know.

In the properties dialog erase what's in there and copy this in:

    "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSBin\Sims2EP2.exe" -w

    Including the quotes!

Uh, guys, maybe I'm the dummy here, but isn't there an option "play in Windows mode" under the three cogs icon in the game controller menu? I thought I saw something like that, there ...

LOL I think you're thinking of "sim while minimized" which is pretty darn close cos you'd only really need that option if you were playing in a window ... however you'd also need a computer like Deep Thought to manage so maybe it's best not to go down that avenue

Oh yeah and I just cheated and put the word "NOT" into my previous post above cos I noticed, belatedly, that it was missing ... what, me being careless? That would be terrible ... :never mind rolleyes: we're looking at :heads-rolling: here! Josh how do you want my resignation? :p

    Well I tried as told.

    "C:\Program Files\EA GAMES\The Sims 2 Nightlife\TSBin\Sims2EP2.exe" -w

And my game loaded but I see nothing, meaning I saw it appear at the bar below (I don't know what it's called sorry :p ) and I can hear the sounds of the game, but on my screen, there's nothing, meaning I still see my wallpaper and thats it

Im sorry about the poor explanation because Im not really good at computer terms and stuff :p
