MY Family died suddenly help I don't want to lose them

Okay so I went to play yesterday but ended up getting distracted, so I minimized the game and my computer hibernated overnight (keep in mind this has never interferred before) so I went to play today and I restored it, but I was in the "buy mode" and the "live mode" was greyed out because I couldn't click on it. So thinking it was just a graphic funcion I saved went to the neighborhood to reboot my house and family, but then my family was no longer their, as in there was no diamond glow thing. So eventually I went on the lot and everthing is exactly the same (ive never went back to an "empty" lot before though so I don't know if things change) I looked closer and found one urn, but when I tried to click on it it says object in use thing. Then I looked around found the rest of my family (i think) and the others could move also I could sell the urns for different amounts of money? (how is that) lastly I think I found a ghost family member, it doesn't look like any one I had in my family, but it was where a person was. It is transparent and on it's back in an ab like crunch move.

I am wondereing What happened while it was minimized and can I reload back to before they died or at least get my family back? PLEASE HELP it took me forever to get this far I don't want to have to start a new family!

    Oh my bad! :(

If you really must save your family then you'll have to resort to some serious editing. In future never save an exit unless you know that you game is in good order. Saving fixes the game in the condition is in at the moment of the save. You are now stuck with what you saved, the previous condition cannot be retrieved except by resorting to the most laborious and extreme methods.

First though. Leaving the game minimised is not a good idea if you have enabled the 'sim while minimised' option in the game options menu. I personally wouldn't leave a game like the sims running unattended under any circumstances. Regular saves are essential for all computer applications and games are no exception. If you add up all the minutes you saved by not restarting the game every time you played then you now know that you've just lost 10 times that amount of time ... and that's the time you need to waste trying to edit you family back to life. If you have to play them over from the beginning ....

    So ...

If you have University and you have sims (with degrees) that are best friends with all the dead sims and you can get them into the paranormal career path they can get the grim reaper phone and use that to resurrect the dead guys ... they'll remember dying tho ...

Best option is download SimPE (note that this is an experimental program that make things worse ... though that is mostly cos you the user will get access to things you may not be skillful enough to mess around with  ... I use it myself but only to perform the most basic of operations; I've never tried unkilling a sim though.)

If you get SimPE you will need to find the files for each dead sim and edit them to change them back to being alive with the correct number of days of life left ahead of them and all unwanted memories (eg "I am dead") erased. They won't all have died at the same time so you also have to erase their memories of each other dying and all the sims that knew them will need their memories editing as well (don't forget to edit the memories of sims like the mailman, maid, etc. who might have been present when your sims were dying ...

You're getting depressed now, aincha? Not as easy as you hoped, right? Well death is like that, I'm afraid. It's kinda permanent and whether it's an electronic boxful of sims or a tankful of hamsters leaving them unattended for long periods is apt to result in irreversible disaster.

If it were me I'd just sigh and start over. I have sighed and started over quite a few times over the years ... :( ... with sims, with pets, with projects ... it never gets easier, though it should get less often or you're not learning from past mistakes ;)

Also I don't know if this means anything, but... everyone (or urn) is exactly where they were when I minimized the game, secondly the shower broke and it's like the water is frozen in mid air, so is the music notes that come from the speakers yet even though everything else looks frozen, also there are the faint headlights of a carpool car barely leaving the plot which it is like stuck there, lastly the tv is on and working (ie: not frozen) what does that mean? Thanks for the help though. I was just wondering about that above now.

Sounds like you have an extremely buggy lot. Do you play with downloads, cheats, hacks or modifications? I'd try removing them if so.

If not, once your family has been resurrected you will need to move to a new lot.

I always back up my game after almost losing everyone once. I would have been heartbroken, so I feel for you.

    Good luck.

Do you play with Free Will turned off, that would explain why everyone was in the same place as when you left them. The other stuff though...I have no clue.
