    Newbie Here!

My name's Lynda and by my user name I guess it is obvious that not only am I a Sims freak, I am a Phantom of the Opera freak! I'm the mom of 3 children, 6 step children and 7 step grandchildren...and I'm only 33. Obviously the hubby is a little older than me!:D Anyhow...has anyone else besides me noticed that Maxis has neglected to create a washer and dryer in any of the Sims games? I've done search after search on the internet and if you find them they don't work like a washer or dryer should or you have to pay for them and they still don't work. They just sit there. Now, I'm not bright enough to know how to make objects for the Sims and even if I could, I know it would take a real intelligent person to be able to get in there and make them work. For example: Dryers cause static electricity, why not have your Sim get zapped? Or a dryer can cause a fire...or maybe your Sim could load and DRY CLOTHES? Washers: bubbles can run all over the floor, your house can flood or your Sims can load and actually WASH CLOTHES? I've tried to contact and suggest this to Maxis with no luck! So...does anyone out there know how to do this? Or can anyone at least make a nice looking set that at least washes and dries clothes? Or what do I need to do such a thing?

Good point. They have a dishwasher, so why not a washer and dryer? Hm....

    O and welcome Lynda :)

Think of how many hours of your sims day will be wasted when all they have to do is spin around and they're in new clothes.

only if they allow 2 or more maids to be hired at the same time.... yeah that would be great.... more maids.

hey! I've had two nanny's on the lot at the same time... one hired by the hubby, one by the wife... I'll have to try that and see if they can both hire maids too.

I think a washer/dryer would be good. I've noticed in my search of sites that there are two big (and opposing) themes: fantasy and realism. And I mean by realism, all sorts of stuff to decorate a suburban home. I even found a very realistic water heater. How useful is that? :D Piles of dirty laundry for the floor, too. A washer/dryer that flood and catch fire should be easy for Maxis.

Phantomrose has reminded me that I need to go do my laundry. :p But not quite this minute.

I found an ironing board somewhere, don't remember (the sims resource?) that's a dresser. Also, clothes hampers. And individual pieces of clothing you can strew on the floor.

Laundry might be cool but I can see why they don't do it.

Still, I'd love to see a clothesline with items hanging on it. That would be fun, especially if you wanted an urban European hood, or a homey farmhouse.

Speaking of which, I am loving the pictures of OFB! There's one that looks like a real city street, with the houses all crowded up to each other. I'm hoping that's a new building capability.

I'm buying my copy tomorrow. Can't wait! Tonight I'm getting everything ready.

I love Phantom of the Opera! Love it, love it, love it! I've only watched the musical once, but since I own the DVD, I've watched the movie 11 times! :D
