My Specifications Hi everyone. I'm interested in playing The Sims 2. I already own the original game with all the expansion packs and it's running on my computer with virtually no lag. Anyway, here are the specifications of my current computer... 1.20GHz Intel Celeron Processor 256MB SD-RAM 20GB Maxtor 2B020H1 Hard Drive Gigabyte GA-6VEML Motherboard 32MB Intergrated Graphics Sound Card 56KB SupraExpress 56i Modem 52x32x52x Lite-On CD-ROM Drive 1.44MB Floppy Disk Drive 15" CRT Monitor Windows 98 Second Edition It doesn't have a T&L-compatible graphics card so i'm not quite sure if it could handle The Sims 2 or not. I'm also a bit worried about the low-end 1.20GHz Intel Celeron Processor. Would The Sims 2 work if I disable the onboard graphics card and install a different T&L-compatible one? Maybe if I upgrade the processor to a 2.00GHz one? What if I upgrade the SD-RAM to something like 512MB? Any help would be appreciated.
RAM to 512MB. CPU to at least 2GHz. Graphics card with 128MB of Video RAM or more. Athough really you need a new computer, the CPU socket is really old, the HDD is due to die, and I doubt the motherboard can handed an AGP graphics card.
I agree with Flamey. Upgrading is an expensive way of ending up with 2nd best. A rebuild would be the better option. Buy: New mobo eg: this B Grade ATHLON XP3000 BUNDLE 139 in UK PCIe NVIDIA 6600/128MB 119 in UK Windows XP Pro OEM 129 1gb Ram 89 A new hard drive would cost peanuts (50-90 quid) You can reuse your other bits and pieces ... though you might need a new power supply
I agree, you would be sparing time and money in the long run by buying a new PC. It's a bad idea trying to run The Sims 2 with a celeron processer, even if you upgrade the GHZ. A Pentium 4 would give much better performance all round. Also TS2 Require 256 MB (RAM) And that's all you have, windows will use up a large ammount of this alone. You should definatley upgrade your PC
