Vampires Hi all Just got NL and thinking about looking for a vampire. If my sim gets 'turned', can they have children? Do they still get older and die? Apart from (I'm guessing) an inability to do anything during the day, are there any other downsides (can they still hold jobs so long as they are night ones? Does an angry mob turn up at your door with pitchforks?)? Curious...
Yes they can have children if they turned as adults. They don't get older and die. I have one vampire who goes to work during the day. It's risky. I have him fly out to his car because flying is faster than walking. During the day, at work, his needs go up and down but he doesn' die. When he gets home (before sunset) I have him fly immediately to a point in front of his coffin and get in. If I'm worried about his needs because they're real low I have him jump in the enegizer thing which I keep next to his coffin. It is risky. Sometimes they're interrupted in their flight to the coffin. They can die pretty fast in the sun. And there are no angry mobs with pitchforks. They can be fun to play because when they're up at night their needs never drop. They can party all night, make friends, go on dates. And, if you want, you can buy a potion to make them normal again.
Did it for you. My vampires are constantly quitting their jobs when they get promoted because I'm too attached to them to risk losing them to a day job. Maybe I'll try it with vamps I'm not as attached to ... I once almost lost a vamp to a pizza delivery. Large lot, garage, stupid delivery person ... grr. If you have a vampire remove all windows from their bedroom or put the coffin in the basement. If they have a kid put the crib, changing table, a refrigerator and a garbage can in the room with the coffin so if they have to get something for the kid they don't have to go far. Later do the same with the potty chair and toddler toys. Vampires are neat freaks, even the sloppy ones. They are constantly cleaning their homes. Which is why the garbage can in the room is essential: they will try to dispose of bottles elsewhere otherwise. The kids are normal, though they may become vampires later if they wish of course. No angry mobs, no slayage, oh well. Still very cool, and you can scare people if you want by bleah-ing them. My vampire Spike likes nothing better than a good fight. Oh, and Aries sims make really good vampires, in my experience. Not too shy, not too nice. If a sim is too nice they'll want to change back to human all the time. Most aspirations other than knowledge will want to change back, at least at first, but of course you don't have to let them. Family sims make lousy vampires. Romance sims don't do too badly, after they get over wanting to switch back. Romance vampires are my personal favorite. Just some stuff I've learned.
I've noticed that one of the things added by the NL EP is the ability to sell baby bottles (full or empty, reg or smartmilk) for 0 simoleans in buy mode. I will clean them up myself because bottles are such a nuisance, what with nannys and "helpful" family members littering the floor with them every few minutes.
I built a rather large garage for my vampires who have to go out in the daytime, whether for work or school. The coffins are right in there so they don't have to go outside to get in the cars. For the teenagers, who always try to put their homework in the house, I have to cancel out the action as soon as they get out of thier cars. Then they put it right down and I can direct them to the coffins.
How do you get teenaged vampires? Did you have to cheat? Do they age or stay teens forever? What a good idea, the garage thingie. Like having your car in the house.
Teens can become vampires the normal way, like everyone else. They stay that way forever unless you send them to Uni.
My particular ones were former shopclerks who were bitten autonomously while working. I felt sorry for them so I moved them in with Inge's shrub. I'll keep them around until I get tired of them as teens, then I'll send them to Uni.
If you have YA vamps, would they ever graduate? And if they did, would they just stay YA's forever? Edit: just noticed this is post 759. Is it custom avvie time now?
Nope, they go through college just like everyone else, once they graduate, then they are adults. However, once they are adults, they don't age from that point on.
When youre in the neighbourhood before you go into your vampires hous put in the cheat "boolprop testingcheatsenabled true" (without the "s) and then when your in the house you can move the need bars up and down so if they are almost dead u can move up the need that is too low. =]
