ofb always crashes in buy mode - help! Hi Third day tryn to make it work, but as soon as I am in buy mode and move an item to a bad position (item turns red) the game gets stuck for ten seconds, then black screen. Sounds still working well, can switch back to windows (still black screen) and have to restart I'm using the patched, original, unmodded/cracked version of the game, updated my Radeon7500, soundcard and mainboard drivers. Not the best PC, but still hits the specs easily (Sempron 2500+) 512MB DDR400. Taskmanager looks good, only neccesary windows task running, no virusscan or whatever. dX is up to date + game was working perfectly before I installed ofb. reinstalled the whole game twice ( a lot of work with all addons), without custom content, defragmentation didn't work either. Weird nobody else got this problem, couldn't find anyone. Still have no clue why it crashes always as soon as an item is misplaced and turns red.. weird.. Im thankfull for any help, the whole thing starts annoying me :( PS: Just figured out they stopped supporting my Radeon7500 in nightlife Anyone knows if it works with it anyway? Funny they stopped supporting it, well, the interface and graphics didn't really change, so why should it stop working? Did they add any graphics options, maybe it would help turning them off? ... 1GB of 40 availible, pagefile at 1,2GB Windows XP (no SP) CD-Version
dammit.. played around with graphics setup, set everything to low, changed pixel shape ...and activated Win98 compatibilty mode and it was working - perfectly.... at least ten minutes, could move items around, beginn buyn stuff for my place, but stuck, just when placing the bathtub, no black screen now, after some secs, but a blue one with a rotating cursor.. and no way to get back to play... when terminating the process he keeps tellin me no graphics card is found when i try start again after restarting the whole pc same story from the beginning I'm definetly too frustrated to go to work or clean up today
Oh dear we are having a bad day, aren't we? I am very worried by your mention that you have If that is your hard disc space then I am amazed you have anything working at all. As a rule of thumb you should aim to keep at least 25%-33% of your hard drive free. Windows uses some of the hard disc as virtual memory when it runs out of RAM. It also needs spare space for all sort of jobs including defragmenting. You really need a bigger hard drive if that 40GB is all you have, but if you cannot change it then your best bet is to uninstall every program you do not need and to delete as many files (eg music, pictures etc. that you have stored on your puter) to free up as much space as possible. However you MUST NOT delete system or program files in C:\WINDOWS C:\Program Files Use the Windows add/remove programs utility to uninstall unwanted software (look in your Control Panel for that) When you have created 10GB (25% of 40GB) of free space run Windows defragmenter to tidy up your disc ... you should notice a big improvement.
Hi Thanx for the hint, 25% HD free, everything seems to be, like, faster now. I 'm just :grumpy: cause I had to uninstall the shooters, which gave me at least some relief from all the agressions I get from tryn to make OFB work. Still no progress there, reinstalled whole game after 2nd defrag, but still...:hissyfit: Gotta buy a new graphics card I'm fraid, do I?
Can you post a dxdiag report for your system specs (see the FAQ's in my sig if you're sure about how to do that) and also confirm that ... ... means that you are using a legally owned copy of the game (it might have been wiser to say uncracked ) Also see the FAQ's for instructions for a full manual uninstall and when reinstalling install the game only and test before patching and test again before adding expansion packs. Test eaxch expansion before adding the next one. It might be tedious but softly softly catchy monkey ... to flog a clich cos I'm too idle to think up summat original
