Builds home items in community lots?

Hi. I really want to create a nice place for Sims to make some sweet lovin'. I want to put beds in a community lot but it won't let me. Is there anyway around that? (I'll pretend it's a hotel even though I can't make my Sims pay for it.)

There is a cheat for changing a lot from community to residential and the other way around but I'm not sure which EP (Uni or NL) it came with. I'm also not sure that you would be able to use the beds once the lot was changed to community from residential. However, experimenting is often the way we learn about the game.

To see if you have the cheat available pull up the cheat window, (Ctrl-shift-c) and type 'help.' You should get a list of the cheats. The one I'm referring to is something like 'changeLotZoning.' Check the spelling, too, or it won't work.

Place a residential lot. Build it as you like. While in the lot, use the cheat to change the zoning. Then exit the lot to the neighborhood.

CAUTION: Do NOT delete the mailbox and trashcan from a residential lot. Bad things happen.

After it's community, I don't know if you can delete them. Better research that carefully.

I tried to do the cheat but maybe I'm not doing it right? I tried doing it with both community and residential lots. I've got the Uni EP.

Is there any other way to create a nice place for my Sims to get it on, besides hot tubs?

edit: Also, is there a way to cheat and get the special reward heart-shaped Hot Tub onto community lots? I guess if there was an object cheat, I could move the beds onto the community lots too though, eh?

The cheats don't require the brackets [ and ].

It should be just changeLotZoning community. However, did you type in help to see if the cheat was in the list? I guess you must have if you've used the brackets because it does seem to look like they're required. But they're not.

As I said, I'm not sure how the beds would work on a community lot. How about just having them move in together and live happily ever after? Unless someone has a desire for 3 different WooHoo partners. Then you can just invite them to spend the night, not move in.

If you have the NL expansion there are also cars and photobooths available for those special dates  .
