    Please help with buy mode.

My sim just recently had twins, and while sims are having a baby as you know the buy mode and house mode turns off. The problem is it's 2sims days later and it never turned back on. Does anyone know maybe a cheat to turn it back on, or know why it never went back?

P.S. I didn't use any sort of hack or cheat to have the twins.

If you do not wish to move your sims out of the house and into a new one you will need to try the developer's debug cheat. It's not very user friendly though so you'll need to use it carefully.

Also before you do anything else:

    Look in the folder

    My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Logs

At the top of the Window click View >> and choose "Details"

Sort the file list by date - click the Date Modified tab - until the youngest dates are at the top

Look for the most recent logs with times that were very close to the moment the babies were born. Pick the ones with names that have the format:- ObjectError_N00#_a######

To open a log file double click it. You can read it ;) It's very long and full of numbers but the nitty gritty is right at the top. Here's the top of one of mine:
    Build: 1.3.0.249
    at Feb 6 2006,15:58:42

    Object id: 682
    name: N005_User00414 - Amber
    Stack size: 15
    Error: Too many iterations.
    Iterations: 100000
    Frame 14:
    Stack Object id: 682
Stack Object name: N005_User00414 - Amber
    Node: 0
Tree: id 331 name 'Verify - Person ID' version 2
    from global
    Prim state: 0
    Params: 682 Locals:
So that'll be something to do with my sim named, Amber then. Got it?

Take a look and see what you come up with. When you have some clues, load up the game and ...

    First pause the game

hold down CTRL + SHIFT and press C

type in: boolProp testingcheatsenabled true and press ENTER

note where the two spaces are!

If you typed correctly you should get a whole pile of new menu options when hold hold the SHIFT key as click on things.

First try the mailbox. SHIFT-click and choose the option "Force Error"

You see a dialog box appear reporting an error with the choices:

    "Delete","Reset","Cancel"

Cancel will do nothing except get rid of the dialog box
Reset will attempt to nullify the error
Delete is kinda hairy and tends to make things disappear. This can be OK if the "thing" is an invisible visitor that is blocking a route but very annoying if the thing is one of your babies.

I'm afraid that all you can do is plug away gently. Start with the stuff that you got suspicious about after taking a peek at your log files. If that doens't cure the problem carry on being a little bolder. With your various sims selected you can also try shift clicking them and seeing what effect resetting forced errors there will achieve.

Pescado's site is still in trouble. But if you had bought a Lot Debugger you could've fixed instantly. The lot debugger is simple little hacked object (unzip and place in Mt Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Downloads\) you can then buy it Iit's a little yellow cube with an red arrow on top) from the odds and ends part of the buy mode catalog. When things go wrong the Lot Debugger most times can fix it. Course you can't buy one now cos your buy mode is disabled  ... but don't be without one in future, huh?
