Roofing Blues I've got a weird house and I'm trying to roof it... but the game isn't cooperating. I need a Shed Gabled Roof that is 8 squares front to back but only 6 wide. However whenever I try to do this, the game rotates the thing so it's 8 wide and 6 deep. Is there a way around this? To make it easier to see what I'm talking about, try the following in the game. Create a first floor that is 12 x 12 and decide which side is the "front". Now on the second floor, place a 3x12 on the left side and another 3x12 on the right, thus leaving a 6x12 space in the middle of the second floor. Now at the back of that space put in a 4x6. This will leave a boxed in gap 6 wide by 8 deep. Now put the Shed Gabled Roof on but have the slope heading to the front of the building. Robindude
For complex or non standard roofing styles I place roofs as I go. Try putting in the roof on the first floor before building the the second ... just draw that roof all the way across the first floor (12 wide, 8 deep). Ew ... that'll be 2.66 storeys hig at the back ... are you sure or are you using roofslopeangle, or am I missing something? ) Better, still, if you leave out stairs, doors and windows until later (because the roof tool won't intersect those) you can "draw" roofs right through second floor walls, thus forcing rectangular shapes that tend to flip to the wrong orientation to stick to the way you want them. Without seeing exactly what you're trying to do, it's hard to advise. I can conceive of some roof shapes that are impossible, but not many. Remember than any roof that is inside the second floor walls will disappear when the recond floor walls are roofed over. Good luck
