Can I play the game off the hard drive? I bought the game from target... Okay, A couple months ago, I got the Sims 2 from Target. When I tried to install it i had that problem where the installation froze at 33%. So I manually installed it with Dispel Illusion's instructions, and i was able to play the game. The next day, i was loading the game and it froze up. When i rebooted my pc the CD\DVD-RW drive was corrupted. Now i really want to play Sims 2, but i don't want the drive to crash or the game to freeze. My Question: Is there a way i can play the game without having to use the cd's, i mean, i own the game, so is there a way to do that?
Not really, no. The copyright protection makes some important features unavailable if the game is run from a virtual image. Do you have Sonic DLA installed? You might find that uninstalling it will fix the problem. Start >> Control Panel >> Add/Remove Programs and look through the list for Sonic DLA ... you really only need it if you plan to make your own DVDs and even then you can do without it DLA stands for Drive Letter Access and it is a known issue that it can cause confusion to some software copyright protection measures.
A 2 word response in the form of a question deserves to be ignored. You may consider that I am being polite by pointing this out and giving you the opportunity to explain what you meant. I will go miles to help but I can't be bothered to expend effort to help a rude and ignorant moron.
