Low Environment In one of my rooms where I have my two sims sleep, I have two fans that are environment points of 10 yet when they go into that room the environment score drops to about half way. What else can I do?
Sometimes it can be maddening trying to locate the cause of low environment score. It can be as simple as an undecorated wall panel or it can be a broken item or even an invisible stuck object (which is crazy, but there ya go) I fixed one large room by dividing it in two ... sims don't like their rooms too big. A 3x3 bathroom makes headmaster very happy. Same plumbing and decor and lighting but 3x4 and the HM hated it and the envrinment score was yellower too ... go figure. Fraid you'll just have to experiment. In general I can tell ya one thing. High score objects don't pull a room's score up when something is dragging it down ... like in real life ... nice objects only make nice rooms nicer. If you hung the Mona Lisa and parked Michaelangelo's David inside Bubba's scuzzy trailer it would still be a fly-blown undesirable slum but with a fancier class of stolen property Is the roof all there ...?
Make sure there's at least one window in the room. Add a rug, curtains, something. Maybe it's just too plain for them. Add a piece of art, put the walls up and make sure it's all painted. Is there anything in the room that could be broken? Computer, stereo, etc.? Maybe it just needs fixing. I had a main room like that. Drove me nuts. They finally stopped complaining about it on their own. Not sure what I did, sorry. Not to go on and on about this hack, but Macrotastics lets you just tell your sim to clean, garden and repair. So if something unbenownst to you is dirty or broken, your sim may find it. But if it's a decorating issue you just need to take a close look. Do your walls connect? I sometimes get sloppy and leave a hole and my sims don't like that much. Good luck.
when i created my first shop (residential) in ofb, i created a huge shop floor on the ground floor and put loads of nice objects and decorated it lovely.. but, enviroment score was only 1/3 of the way up. so i deleted a bit of wall round the corner where you couldnt see it, which basicly meant the shop was ''outside'' and the environment shot right up to full green. anyone know if a sims personality effects their liking of a particular room? it should do, in real life it does, so maybe it does on simmies too? i know all my simmies love big bathrooms and i only do 3x3 on starter homes..... (no offence )
Why would we be offended? I have no idea about personality vs. environment. I've had complete slobs complain about their environment when they're the ones that messed it up. Neat sims tend to autoclean if you leave them to their own devices. My neatness freak sim Mallory's always cleaning a bathroom or kitchen counter. Wish he lived in my house, LOL. I've got a shop that used to be the living room of the home and while it's connected it doesn't affect the family's environment score at all. I've also got freestanding shops in some of my sims' front yards, and that seems to work OK as well.
i tried everything to get the room score in the shop up, buying loads of expensive 'room score 10' items, but only deleting the bit of wall worked, i did it cos it always used to work in sims 1 as well, the only problem with it in sims 2 is when someone kicks your trash can over... why doesnt the maid deal with that :(
I think I've asked myself, "Why doesn't the maid take care of that?" at least a million times since I've gotten the game. I think Maxis just wanted to insert a bit of realism into the game...you can never find good help nowadays, I'm afraid.
