hello im not sure if i posted this before hi i was wondering if i could buy a laptop and put the sims onto as in install it or does it have to be a PC also if a laptop has between 40gb and 60gb is that good or bad thank you
The Sims 2 is a graphics intensive game (it places a lot of demand on the computer's graphics hardware). Demand leads to work and work is energy and energy produces heat (cos nothing man-made is 100% efficient). Computer chips hate to get too hot and their performance will get worse once the temperature exceeds a critical value. In general laptops perfom poorly for gaming purposes. A lot of power is used so battery life is very limited and if you have access to a power socket then you're better off with a desktop machine anyway. If there is some compelling reason why you must have a laptop suitable for gaming purposes then make sure you buy one that had been tailored and optimised for gaming performance. An off the shelf Dell, HP/Compaq, is not going to give you the same gaming experience for your bucks as a desktop machine will do. If you must have a laptop for school/business needs then, for most purposes (EXCEPT playing games!), there are many deals at the moment for cheap laptops: Acer TravelMate 2413LCi - 349.00 Acer America LX.A5505.A69 Mobile AMD Sempron 3100+ Notebook Computer - $597.25 Dedicated gaming solutions in laptop form are expensive ($2000-$5000) (UK version) and still come second to desktops in bang for buck comaprison. For example if I had 2000 to spend right now, I would buy a 500 notebook for internet use (my old one has broken and can't be fixed) and I would then spend 1500 upgrading my present PC with new motherboard, a 64-bit cpu and a kick-bottom graphics card ... if there was a enough change I'd also go for liquid cooling to try and cut the noise and boost performance. Mirelly fades away to drool dreamily for a moment ...
ooh Mirelly, i never liked the sound of liquid cooling... surely water and electronics simply dont mix??? i know a guy who tried to make his own diy version of liquid cooling and it went horribly horribly wrong.... i know the proper ones are tailor made and bloody good, but i still wouldnt trust all that liquid inside my machine, would rather just take the case off and blow a fan on it (which we have to do sometimes at the moment as our processor fan isnt working properly) in answer to your question babyace, i would buy a desktop pc over a laptop anytime, having owned (and dropped) a laptop before, i can safely say they are not good at gaming, get very hot and you can only play for an hour before the battery gets low. and if you play with it plugged in all time it ruins the battery life. if you can afford to buy a 2000 laptop then go for it, but it would only work as well as 1000 desktop pc.. they are simply not as good as desktops, even if the specs say they are.
ok then thank you very much i was just curious but thatnks to your advice i will just use my computer still and just be happy with that thank you soooooooo much
