Turn off the 4 o'clock phone calls

Can I turn off the nagging 4 o'clock phone calls from friends the sims are losing touch with? They're so frequent and annoying and are driving me insane. :(

You need the phone hack from MATY (it does a lot more than just enable you to control the ringer; I couldn't play without it)

Find it in the The Armoury >> Hack Directory

Thanks a lot, Mirelly! Does it work on a Mac? I can't tell from the threads over there if they do. Also it does much more than just turn off the four o'clock calls, and I don't really want that. Edit: Wait, the latest version without the TalkModule has mostly logical features. (Except the harassment call blocker)

I don't have phones in the bedroom, but I can't stand that the phone keeps ringing and ringing and ringing and the sims have to either answer or I have to listen to the darn noise until past 7 pm.

Not sure ablout Mac compatibility. Ask over at MATY. Remember you only need to use the features you like. I find that using the phone to "call friends" every other day is enough to keep the pestering in-ringers quiet enough to to be tolerable. The main thing is being able to set the number from rings from zero to the full complement of 20 ... though I swear it sounds like a several hundred when you can't be bothered to answer it.

I'm trying it out now. The problem with phoning friends to stop the ringing is that with too many friends it becomes impossible or undesirable to keep in touch with everyone. Sims with pleasure aspiration suffer in particular because they always want to go out and have dates, but don't care how many friends they keep.

Wow! It works! I'm so happy! At least I think it does since I get the option to set the ringer count when I click on a phone.

LOL Remember that it's easy enough to take out again if you decide you'd rather not have it. Personally I couldn't play without the talk module. You can just send a sim off to talk to friends on the phone and they're happy for hours. What's more a long sesh like that practically guarantees there'll be no "why d'ya never call?" calls for a day or two.

I see your point, but I find the talkmodule to be illogical, because I think the receiver of the phone call also should have a say in when to end the call. It's not like I can call someone up in real life and keep talking however long I want if the one I'm calling is busy or gets sick of my yacking. :)

In fact I wouldn't have minded the nagging calls if they'd been more logical, like not always happening at four o'clock and giving options to keep talking, invite over, invite downtown and hang up (don't call again).

We're all different, thank the lord. It made me laugh though to try to think of sims behaving realistically (well logically) :p

I well remember way back when the game first came out posting a request for someone make a mod to curtail the number of rings and within minutes Pescado posted to say that he was releasing his first hack: the phone hack version 1.0 16 Nov 2004 ... ah, how time flies :)

Haha, yeah, it is just a game, but since they're supposed to simulate people, I like it to be as logical as possible at least within the rules of the imagined world. I don't mind that they've added vampires and aliens and similar things, though, since that's part of the fiction.

But I agree that it's good we're all different. I'm off to enjoy new and more silent life of my sims. :)
