Jumpy Ella Soooo .... Ella and Chase graduated from college and moved in with his Aunt Milo and her family in their new house in Porta de Luca. Ella goes to get a job and jumps away from the computer after one posting. So I made her do it again, and she got a job this time. But when she was done she sprang from the computer again. Do I have the jump bug? I haven't downloaded anything in over a week so not sure why it would be happening now. It's only happened to her (so far) and only when using the Little Sis computer. I figure my problem is either: A) My HUGE file of pictures. I'm going to archive most of them. I don't do the family albums, anyway. My pictures are mostly for the story. B) Too many sims. I'm going to check tonight. I'm also going to clean out my downloads and get rid of some stuff I don't want or use. I have a lot of downloads. I use hacks, all by Pescado or TwoJeffs, though I have one or two by others who came recommended. I'm very fussy about which ones I use. Does anyone have further help for me? Anything else I should be trying? Would a faster processor help? I'm afraid this signals the beginning of the end for Porta de Luca if I can't find a solution. But I've thought that before, so I'm not giving up just yet.
Play with testingcheats enabled, and when she jumps the game will generate an error message and log. Make note of where the log gets saved, then post it over at Pescado's place and someone should be able to interpret it for you.
Yes, what Kit said ... It might be a bugged little sis computer or chair. Try the FFS Lot Debugger also from MATY. Meanwhile a debug report (as per Kit's advice) would be the best start to identifying the problem.
What do I type? testingcheatsenabled? That's it? (I have yet to figure out how to use moveobjects. I try typing just that, or with an on or off after it, with or without a space, nothing. I'm just mental I guess.) So please spell it out for me. I'm not very good with cheats. And, won't that hurt my game? Should I turn it off before I leave the lot? Thanks for your help. P.S. I've got the debugger so I'll try that as well. Will that help me move the toy train out of the middle of Jake's bedroom? He moved back home and his childhood toy refuses to move. Guess it loves him.
The cheat is 'boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true,' I think. And I don't know about the moveobjects cheat...I usually just type in moveobjects on and it works. Are you sure you're typing it in the right box?
boolprop FAQ bool is for the 19th century mathematician, George Boole, who developed an algebraic logic that is the foundation of computer programming. Values (of an argument or expression) such as true and false are said to be boolean values. so boolProp means the boolean value of a property (of the game) so the debugging cheat mode is activated by the cheat: boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true it is disabled by entering boolProp testingCheatsEnabled false [dang copy/paste by edit ] The capitals are not important. But they do help old eyes to spot typographical errors The spaces are important they are integral parts of the expression. Debug mode (often erroneously called the boolprop or some equally imprecise name) is not in any way harmful to the game or the game file structure. If the game is performing properly without bugs or hack induced errors then you won't even be aware the debug mode is running until an error eventuall occurs that triggers an user response (typically in the form of a dialog box pop-up with a brief indication of the error type and the options to "Cancel", "Reset", or "Delete". The ill-informed tend to regard this as game damaging because sometimes the error cannot be ended by cancel or reset ... it just keeps cycling over and over .... cancel, cancel cancel ... it'll keep going longer than your keyboard if you're daft enough to try Delete of course usually ends the lock up by removing the problem part. This might be a sim and might seem drastic ... it is if you save and exit Exit without saving to gain access to the debug mode generated error log. A massive document filled with masses of useless information that hides the problem from all the awesome eyes of a few dedicated geeks over at places like MATY and MTS2. Debug doesn't doesn't damage games or computers; silly users acting impetuously (or without good advice) damage game files and computers. Never save unless you know what you're saving. Better to lose an hour or two's play than to lose everything. Always save every hour or so (at least) if nothing has gone wrong in the last hour. Odd behaviour and unidentified bugginess and unexpected undesirable sim behaviours should (ideally) always be the cause of setting debug mode on, the sooner to capture an error log that will help the hackers (... er and maybe even Maxis ) to identify and cure. Leaving debug mode on has a number of potential inadvertent hazards in that it is too easy to cheat like crazy, for example: making visitors controllable and all sorts of other malarkey that in clumsy or unwise hands may be apt to make the game fizz and spark a little alarmingly if not actually become the BFBVFS but one have to be truly and devotedly stupid to really screw up If you have Uni, NL and OFB you may wish to try my userStartUp.cheat file (attached) Download and unzip it to My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2\Config\ Once in place the following short codes will work (as well as the original Maxis codes) mon/moff -- moveObjects on/off chon/choff -- boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true/false diagon/diagoff -- boolProp allow45degreeangleofrotation true/false snapon/snapoff -- boolProp snapObjectsToGrid true/false flooroff/flooron -- boolprop constrainFloorElevation false/true roof3 - roofSlopeAngle 45 (normal roof angle) roof4 --} roof5 --} try 'em their fun boff/bon -- showHeadlines off/on (turns balloons on and off) pb -- toggles the plumb bob green diamond thingy It may be sad but those codes are on a grubby Post It stuck to the side of my puter
Thank you Mirelly! I'm sure more people than just little old me benefited from this. You are truly a sim goddess.
BOWING DOWN TO SIM-GODDESS MIRELLY. . . "We're Not Worthy! We're Not Worthy!" raise:raise: Seriously, Thank you so much for that, girlfriend! I learned something!
