Aww...thanks Michelle and Babe. We told my grandparents today, took them to breakfast, my grandma cried of course. The women on that side of the family are VERY emotional! And I'm one of them!

Planning is well underway already, my mom and I drove around and "peeked" into some reception places yesterday, and since it was a Saturday most of them were set up for weddings. We went early enough so no one was there yet except the people setting up. Found one that is a possiblity within the budget.

We made a rough draft for the guest list as well, we're up to 240ish people already, and that's 80% family. With just my cousins (and their spouses/children) on my dad's side, I have 93 guests...yikes!!! So we've decided to just invite aunts/uncles/grandparents, a select few cousins I'm close with, and our close friends to the ceremony and dinner. Everyone else is invited to the dance after! That will cut down on costs quite a bit as the price per plate is what is the most expensive. We still have 87 people on the list for the ceremony/dinner as of right now.

It's going to be crazy...but a hell of a good time!!! I'm so excited!

Oh my I'm REALLY late lol, but HUGE congratulations Shana! :D I'm so happy for you :) Welcome to the 'engaged' club lol, though by the sound of things you won't be 'engaged' for too long with all those wedding plans underway hehehe. :)

Me and my fiance have been engaged for 3 years, although we are hoping to marry sometime next year if our budget allows. We want a quiet wedding as we are both kinda shy, and besides - he has yet to convince me to wear a dress LOL. I don't even own a skirt or dress, and I'm sure I will look ridiculous in a wedding dress lol.

Good luck with the wedding plans! :D

Thanks!!! We do have a lot of plans underway, but it's still 17 months out...Jan. 25th, 2008 as of right now (it's a Friday). We might bump it to that Saturday, but the 25th is just a cheaper option! 17 months is a ways out...but 3 years!?! Yikes!

We have a smaller budget as well, but it's exciting to get all the planning done. One of the reasons we pushed it back to Jan 2008 is because I can really research and find cheap options until then.

Good luck to you as well fellow future bride! :D

Cheapest way: Have an outdoor wedding in December, when there's snow :p

Heh, that will surely be a quiet wedding because I won't even be there for that! LOL! I cannot tolerate the cold, though I absolutely LOVE snow, it's soooo pretty (from indoors of course) and we just don't get enough of it here.

Shana, other things happened after we got engaged that made us push back the wedding plans, but now we have a chance to have children and we want to be married first. I guess we had better make a start with plans! :)

LOL...wanna know the sad part...I was already considering having the ceremony outside since it will only be 10-15 minutes. If it was snowing with lots of candles around that would be soooooo romantic!!! Normally if it's snowing it's bearable to be outside, around the high 20s/30s...yes yes, I know, in CA that would be enough to call in sick so you don't have to go to work, but I like the colder weather! Hehe, but I'm thinking not since MN is so unpredictable, it might just be brown and ugly outside or below zero--that's too cold even for me!

Hey, people get married outside at our winter carnival every year...and we are going to get married during the winter carnival season! Hmmm....*goes away wondering how to contact people to get married at the winter carnival*

Hey - That would be AWESOME if they did another Ice Palace in 2008, and you were able to get married there! Imagine the fabulous wedding photos you'd have - all that show and ice shimmering with candlelight! :candle: :couple:

That's EXACTLY what I was thinking!!! It would be so completely romantic and gorgeous. I'm already doing a snowflake theme, can you imagine getting married at the ice palace as well...*romantic sigh*

I mentioned it to Brandon last night though and I think he thought I had gone insane. Eh...he keeps saying that all the planning is up to me anyway... Mwah ha ha ha ha...

ROTFL *grabs sides* Oh...I just laughed out loud here at work and got quite the look! Hehe...now THAT'S a funny picture. Maybe I'll start threatening him that if he doesn't start getting more involved that I'll pick out his "tux" for him.

Well we booked a location and set the exact date: Saturday, January 26th, 2008! It was only $50.00 more to do it on the Saturday instead of Friday so that's why we went with that place. The place looks cheesy in the pictures but it's actually beautiful inside, the pictures on their website need to be updated!!! We're talking early 90s weddings in these pictures...you know, the big puffy sleeve type weddings! LOL, anyway, I'm excited!
