Neighbourhood and game screen all distorted

I've been playing sims2 for a few months now. However yesterday, the screen went all distorted. And now it wont go back to normal. How do I get it to go back to normal?

I've enclosed an image of what the problem looks like;

Help please? Thankyou in advance.

I feel like a broken record tonight! :D

But I'd suggest downloading the latest drivers for your video card. Your game might just be having compatiblity issues with your machine.

I've been told it's helpful to create a restore point before changing drivers, just in case you screw something up.

I think it's under Accessories/System Tools on your computer.

Good luck.

I'm still a bit stuck.
How do I download latest drivers for my video card?
Is there nothing else I can try?
Thanks.

Make sure the drivers match the type of video card you have. For example, I have a geForce 6600. Nvidia makes all geForce cards, even if they have a different manufacturer name on them.

In my case I'd download the 6600 geForce drivers from the Nvidia website.

You can find out what kind of video card you have by checking under System Properties.

But I'm not the best person to advise you. Flamey? Josh? You reading this?

It may not even be your video card, that's just something you can check. It may be helpful to post your stats here, if you'd like further advice.

Someone said my name? :p

Go: Start, run, type 'dxdiag' (without the quotes)

Click on 'display' at the top of the window.

In the device box next to the manufacturer it will have a name.

Driver Sites:
Nvidia
Radeon
Intel - Use the links on the left to go to graphics and select the correct number.

If you have a different brand post back what it is and I'll try to find the correct drivers.

It's Nvidia, GeForce4 MX 440
But I'm confused about the website - I'm totally new to this, sorry lol. What am I supposed to do now? Thanks.
