Very Very Strange, please help "create-a-sim"

Help. Ive had the sims2 installed for a good few months. Everything was working fine, but suddenly, when i go on create-a-sim mode, there is no starting screen- you know the backdrop where they stand for their portrait. Instead its the rug and mirror screen. This doesn't bother me, its the fact that the sim is INVISIBLE! U can't edit the eyes or clothing, cos there's no one there! I've tried loading a sim from the sim bin, but u still can't see anybody. I tried that then clicked the tick, there face icon shows up like uve completed making you sim, but u dont see them stand against the backdrop place. WHAT SHOULD I DO? IS IT A BUG?

Do you have a lot of downloads? If so you might want to try removing them and then returning them in batches and see if that helps.

I'd start with anything that you downloaded recently.

Also, make sure you have the latest patches for the EPs you have. You can download them from the official site.

If that doesn't help you may also want to defrag your hard drive and search it for viruses.

These are just ideas. I've never had that happen, but I do know downloads, especially houses, can screw up your game sometimes.

Edited to say: Actually, you may want to check that you have the latest drivers for your video card before doing any of the above. It almost sounds like a machine compatibility problem ... but I could be wrong.

Least i know what to keep an eye on next time, cheers.
