graphics card question. hello im new here i hope i am posting in the correct place (if not please forgive me, i'll move it)... i was wondering if anyone could tell me the real deal with regards to how sims 2 will run on my new system (it arrives in 4 days so i havent got it just yet!) and i am curious about my chosen graphics card as i havent seen it listed on this site in the 'must read' section. ok, here is some of the new system info: 3.4gig processor (Pentium D 945). 1gig system RAM windows xp pro ATI Radeon x1600 pro 512meg graphics card. 200 GB hard drive space (consists of 2 drives) i know this is a good system as i need it to run a lot of photographic work that i do, but is it good for sims 2? and has anyone got this graphics card? and should i expect any problems with this system, or need any patches, etc? hope you can shed some light on it, thanks

You'll need "patches" but not because of your system. The game seems to have patches which update the game. It's impossible with a game of this complexity to find all the bugs (or to find the reasons for the bugs so that they can fix them). So, it's not unusual for them to finally get enough info about a bug to fix it after it's been out for a while. Those updates (aka "patches") you'd need to download from the official site. I wish everyone had as nice a system as you have. The only thing you may need more of is harddrive room if you want to do something like machinima. That's because the video clips the game makes can be quite large. (Also remember that you always want to keep at least 25% of each "drive" open so that there's room to do defrags when the drive gets defragmented.)
thanks for that advice the system will be a dream for me, seeing as ive been running on a 64mb graphics card and less than a 1gig processor for the past 5 years! i tried to play the sims2 when it first came out - a total disaster, had to sell the game on and give up. i know about the patches; i will be running the web on my old pc to keep my new one free for other programs, but im hoping to just transfer downloads via disc. hope it goes well cheers.
