    Sims to won't load!

My game won't load, it starts to run and i get the first sims 2 bit up but then it freezes. I think it may be due to a couple of scratches but it loaded fine a few weeks ago and the cd hasn't been damaged anymore. Could it be anything else? and is there a way of trying to sort the disc rather than pay out for a new game! Somebody suggested alcohol. I haven't done it in fear that it will ruin it even further. Please help, i miss my game!!

Could you post up some specs on your computer?

FYI, if you using a CD Cloning software like Alcohol, your game won't run properly.

well theres some on the c drive n some on the d drive, meant to he 256mb, not sure whats going on, been having a lot of memory problems recenltly, been trying to delete programmes, n transferring pics n music onto disc n deleting them. My memory still seems to be too low. Need to get some more discs and copy them all then reformat. I don't want to though as my mum lost my cd key while i was living with her. I'd have to hunt it out first.

Well my best guess at this point in time is that your computer is struggling to load The Sims 2 because the lack of RAM, based on what you're telling me. 256MB is like bare minimum to run a stable enviornment for Windows XP

I think she means rubbing alcohol to try and get rid of the scratches on the CD, not cloning software ;)

It doesn't hurt to try I suppose. However note you may void the warranty of the disc if you do.

When I clean my discs, I use dish soap :) . I rub the dish soap on first, then clean it off with water and use a soft cloth to dry the disc off. It's always worked for me.
