Boy Teen can't change his clothes! I have a family of 5, parents, two twin girls, and a boy teenager. I went shopping for a bunch of clothes the other day, and all the family members can change into them except for the boy. I don't understand it, cause the clothes have been purchased but he has no options for planning anything. Has anyone come across this before? Any suggestions?? I guess I'm not sure if it's even a technical problem or not but it's really bugging me! Thank you in advance for any help
Indeed I have. I went out twice actually and bought some. The second time I went out it even showed the clothes I bought the first time as being in the closet.
Did you buy specifically for the Teenage Male? It's easy to confuse the age groups when buying clothes, but if he only has clothes for, say, Young Adult/Adult/Elder male or whatever then he won't be able to dress in them. I think you can buy female clothes when playing a male sim/vice-versa, but that's a little off-topic. Hey, it's early in the morning and I should be in bed lol but anyway that's the only thing I can think of that might be wrong, unless you've got any hacks that might be causing a conflict?
The only time I ran into this problem was when I took an adult sim from my original neighborhood to a Downtown shop to buy clothes. None of the clothes showed up in her closet back at home (meaning there was no option to plan outfit because she was wearing the only thing that she owned.) But the money was sure gone. I got the feeling that you could only shop in the neighborhood where you lived. Maybe that's not the case anymore, because of OFB. Or maybe it was never the case and just a glitch in my game but now I always shop where I live. Well, my sims do, anyway.
Did you try going back to the store and buying something else for him? I've had the game "forget" that I had clothes sometimes. I've also had it provide extra outfits, even when the child is the first one born in the house. I don't think it's entirely bug-free. You might also want to try Pescado's clothing tool, available at MATY. It lets you pick clothes at home. So far, that's worked pretty slick in my game. It might help your teenager. If you have OFB you can shop anywhere, however, if you're at Uni you have to shop on campus for clothes, or use the clothing tool. YA clothes aren't available anywhere else. If you don't have OFB, Lynet's right. You need to shop in your own neighborhood, definitely for groceries, possibly for clothes too. I've had cell phones go missing as well. The game isn't perfect ...
Thanks for all the suggestions. I don't have ANY expansion packs. All I have is Sims 2. I had the mother first go out and shop for the whole family. They were all able to wear them except for the boy. So I had him go out and shop for himself. I specifically picked teenage boy for the clothing. He came home and still wasn't able to wear any other clothes. It works for everyone else in the family but him. I wouldn't care so much but the clothes he has on now are SO dorky!!
Well, that's unfortunate. The only thing I can suggest is try the clothing tool. You can get it at MATY. Lots of people have used it with no ill effects that I've heard of. I think most of the clothes for guys that come with the game leave something to be desired. I have a lot of downloads of male clothing for that reason. I agree that a lot of the outfits are pretty dorky.
What's MATY? I know I'm showing my inexperience. I just don't generally download anything extra for Sims. Keeping it simple, lol.
I'm now having the same issue with a teenage girl in another family. I don't really care because she's growing up soon though. Also, I followed the directions but I couldn't get the clothing tool to work. I've downloaded some other custom content, just outfits and such, and haven't had issues with it, so I dunno where I screwed up.
I actually came on here looking for a resolution because I'm having the same problem. Every other member of the family (excluding toddlers) can change clothes except for my teen boy. I only have the SIMS 2 and the clothes were bought specifically for a teenager, I wonder what the problem is.
