New Computer - Comments?? Okay guys, I'm so excited!! I've ordered a new computer and it's supposed to be delivered in a couple of weeks. The ship date is on or before my birthday, so birthday present for me!! Yay!! I just wanted to put up the specs and see what the techno-minded people think about how my game will run on my new comp. Intel Core 2 Duo Processor E6300 (1.86GHz,1066FSB) with 2MB cache 1GB DDR2 SDRAM at 667MHz NVIDIA GeForce 7300 LE 250GB SATA II Hard Drive (7200RPM) So? Does that sound like a good one?
Yay!!! I've been running TS2 on such a slow computer for so long. It literally took about 20 minutes to load the game, and sometimes 10 minutes to load a house depending on the size. I stopped using lots bigger than 4x4 because my computer couldn't handle it. I also couldn't install Family Fun or Glamour because of my video card (even though I bought them both), so I'm SOOO excited about this new computer!!! I'm also supposed to be getting Pets for my birthday. I was going to go buy it myself, like I usually do, but since I'm not going to install it on the old computer, I can wait and have someone else buy it for me. Now I just have to wait patiently for about 2 1/2 weeks. Is it October 25th yet?
UPDATE: I got the computer yesterday, and instead of waiting for my computer-minded friend to come over and hook it up and transfer all my downloads and saved games from the old sucky computer to the new monster computer, I decided tinker with it. First thing I noticed: I needed to go to Best Buy and get a mouse and keyboard adapter thingy because the ones I have aren't compatible. I seriously spent 10 minutes looking at the back of the computer going "Where do the mouse and the keyboard plug in? Der..." I think my blond was showing. So I went to Best Buy, bought the adapter, and a new router, because the whole wireless thing wasn't working for me, and I figured hey, new computer, I might as well be able to download things again, too! So I get the computer set up. I install the games I had installed on the sucky computer (don't want to install Glamour or Pets yet because I'll be putting my saved games on the new comp--file format difference and all that). First thing I notice is that it doesn't take as long to install the games on the new computer as it did on the old computer. Yay for me! After I get them installed, I boot up the game, and promptly fall out of my chair. The graphics! The speed! The sheer beauty of it! I'm in awe. I'm astounded. How did I ever play this game with my old computer?!?!?! It's such a shame that I'm feeling sick today and I'll be taking the afternoon off work to go home--where my computer is patiently waiting to be booted up. And my wonderful computer friend is coming by this afternoon to transfer the files and set up the new router. It's a beautiful day.
Meg, don't feel bad about wanting to have help with setup. I build the things, but I still have my husband do the hookup! (However, I do hook up my own mouse, but that's because it is a USB hookup and it doesn't matter which color of hole it goes into, as long as I use the ones in the back.)
