Attention! Newbies! Before you Install Before you install any new EP, READ THIS! Trust me. You want to follow EVERY step. I'm the midst of doing it for my game, now. That's a reminder for the rest of us, too.
I haveth a question. When you remove the downloads folder before you install, if you put it back, will all of the sims and houses you used them on go back to normal?Today I was checking all of my houses to make sure everything was good for installation, I noticed all the bare walls and floors and such...will they all be back to normal after I put the folder back in, or will I have to manually replace all of them?
You know, I'm not sure. I'm a little worried about my custom skins and eyes, as well. I wish I could remember what I did for the last EP. I miss Mirelly! Kristal! You use custom stuff. What's your advice on custom genetics?
I did some research. Here's a modification to Mirelly's post. You DO NOT need to move your DL's UNLESS they are changes to defaults (like skin and eye default replacements) or recolors of in-game hidden items like pizza boxes, etc. Do MOVE all of your hacks, mods, etc. Replace them one at a time in case they crash the game. I'm going to revisit every lot and remove all of my hacked items like the college timer thingy, clothing tool, and bathroom uses you toilet paper. Just because I'm paranoid. Read the above link for more specific information.
I'm double-checking with Shana on this, since she's already installed Pets. I wish I could remember how to handle DL's. I seem to remember not moving mine, but I'll let you know when I get confirmation.
Well I already replied via private message, but for everyone elses sake. I didn't do anything with my downloads except back them up. However, I'm going to remove my hacks today, but not the gentics/clothing/recolors. I'm thinking that maybe one of my hacks/mods are interfering with some things with the new expansion and today is my detective work day! Yesterday was just for playing!
I accidentally did this one time, but I removed my downloads folder, and two of my Sims had custom eyes. They turned the default brown until I replaced the downloads folder. The eye color came back. I'm assuming this will happen with other custom content as well.
