The Sims 2 In Season Scoop

The Sims 2: In Season (working title) is the fifth expansion pack in The Sims 2 series of games. The following flyer promoting the expansion pack shipped with The Sims 2: Pets.
Give your Sims a break and get them out of the house! This upcoming expansion pack for the Sims 2 lets you to take your Sims outside where they can engage in fun seasonal activities including snowball fights, playing pool games like Marco Polo, and more. They can frolic in Spring showers, fish in their own ponds, and grow seasonal fruits with unexpected consequences. Whether you build them a small Winter chalet or a Summer cabin, your Sims will enjoy every season - but watch out for unpredictable weather! Available Early 2007.
The game was officially announced by Maxis on the front page of The Sims 2's official website on October 17, 2006. On the page, they displayed the image from the flyer and the text "The teaser for Expansion Pack 5 was in The Sims2 Pets PC game! Stay tuned for more info..."

    [edit] Predicted Features

Please note that some of the features below may just be for the leaflets display purposes and might not actually feature in the final game. Also remember that these are just predictions by Sims 2 fans and not information provided by EA Games.
    • There will be seasons in the game.
    • Sims can now have snowball fights and play pool games such as Marco Polo.
    • There will be rain in Spring, and snow in Winter-effects that have been sought by the design team since the original game came out.
    • Sims can keep fish in ponds.
    • They can grow rare fruits with unexpected results.
    • You can build your Sim a little winter villa or a summer hut, possibly hinting that a Sim can now own two or more homes.
    • More clothes will be unlocked for your Sims, most of them are related to weather.
    • Sims can now wear gloves. However, the gloves may just be a compulsory part of the costume.
    • Sims can, as shown in the flyer, rake and pile up autumn leaves.
    • As shown in the flyer, Sims can possibly make new beverages (possibly juice from the fruits your Sims can produce).
    • It's now possible for your Sims to wear different clothing for every season.
    • Your Sims may be able to go on vacations now.
    • There will be a brand new temperature mood, so sims can now get hot and cold from the weather.
    • Visit other sim lots to stay over or even sleep over.

I really do like the idea of weather so long as it's not compulsory for the sims to wear a certain type of clothing for it, that would be a pain cos all our CC would have to be modified to suit the season.
I'm still waiting for a middle aged group, I really wish they'd create that.

I can't wait for this expansion. I've been wanting weather for my sims forever! Actually my top 2 things I wanted to see in the Sims 2 was 1. Pets and 2. Weather so I am a happy camper :D

Although I too am worried about having to worry about clothing, especially since I have a ton of custom content. If I remember correctly in Sims 1: Vacation your sims lost comfort stats if they were out in the snow in non-winter clothes.

I wonder if it will be included, I sure hope so!

Gotta say, I'm not really excited about this. I mean it will be interesting to see, but this is probably one expansion I could happily go without. I'd need more incentive to buy it than raking leaves and having snow ball fights. LOL I never do those in real life anyway.

I went to a lot of trouble last year to put snow around my sim houses at Christmas time. That's the time of year when I would most like an EP with weather.

Maybe they could build it into the "Plan Outfit" interraction, where you select clothing for each season or type of weather, and then the Sim would auto-magically change outfits according to the conditions!
