Bragging Rights Just completed building a new computer from scratch! Scary and some what confusing at times, but I'm so proud of myself for finally making my ultimate (that I can afford) computer. The sad thing is that I basically made it to play the Sims! Anyway, here it is: Atrix 9001 ATX case with 500w p/s and LCD display Gigabyte GA-M55PLUS-S3G motherboard AM2 3800+ X2 CPU 320GIG SATA HD 3GIG DDR2 RAM ATI X800 XT 256MB pci-e graphics card DVD Burner It runs so good, I love it. I did have windows vista rc1 on there for a little while, but at the moment it's not compatible with enough so I went back to XP, but for those that are wondering, it is gorgeous and something I'd definately consider buying when the final release is available (early 2007). Brag over!
I have no idea what r0x0rs is. Useful advice would have been appreciated Flame, but did your mother not teach you that if you have nothing nice to say then don't say anything at all? Being polite doesn't hurt, but saying something is 'sucky' to someone who is really happy with what they have managed to achieve, does. After a google search I found these definitions for r0x0rs: 'l337 (leet) speak for pwning (owning) someone in commonly played nerd games such as counter-strike and well... counter-strike...' 'r0x0rs are people dedicated to computer or video games. Many are very good at them, some at the cost of social skills and/or a life. Many r0x0rs can communicate in "133+ 5P34k" (elite/ leet speak).' 'Describes a l33t hax0r loser who spends all day hunched over a computer typing. These are people who went through life with no friends and try to give themselves a good status by reffering to themselves as "l33t hax0rz" that "pwnz0r j00", which I have never been able to figure out the meaning of.'
Sylla, I am so in awe of anyone who builds their own computer. I'm the sort that needs a map to find my way from the cord that comes out of the back of the computer to the outlet in the wall. You have every right to brag. It's an impressive feat, especially for a mother of three kids with the chickenpox! But I want to say a kind word about Flamey. He helped me to do the simple task of upgrading my video card driver. Very helpful, clear instructions for which I am very grateful. I think he was just teasing you. BTW, Sylla, are your creations for Worldsims available somewhere on the Worldsims site? I looked around for them one day and couldn't find them.
Thanks Lynet, I do have a lttle bit in the downloads section accessed from the front page of worldsims, and the eyes are in the eyes section . I'm still in the process of transferring everything from my old comp to this one and it's slow going, but getting there so hopefully soon I'll be getting more into the downloads section. p.s bad day, if your teasing Flamey, sorry
Yes I was, really your computer is much better than mine, and well done being able to afford it with our economy. I would also like to note the use of '' to indicate that I was joking. Also when I said r0x0rs it actually meant that your computer 'rocks' and no I'm not talking about rocks out in the garden. I have never heard of the Atrix brand, so I have a neutral opinion on them, however, most don't use the PSUs that come with the case, as they tend to not work as well as other PSUs. Atrix however, may have included a good PSU with their case and that would be fine.
leet speak = misinterpretation (c'mon Flamey, I'm old and just don't get it anymore! ) But yeah, the economy is one of the reasons that I thought I'd build myself, I got various parts from an online store that had reasonable prices and other parts from e-bay (I love e-bay, but you do take a risk buying from there.) So probably ended up with a great comp at more than half the price than I would have if I'd bought it pre-built. If I recall correctly and unless you have moved Flame, I think you're only an hour away from me... Anyways, a couple of pics so you can see the case.
Congratulations, Sylla! It does feel good to choose all your own components and build your own computer. I'm in the process of building my 3rd computer and it's great fun. I just installed SLI video cards on my computer. My husband was so proud of me that he snapped pictures of me putting them into the computer. It's only temporary until I get the next computer built, but I've got to wait until I can get the other parts I need. So, congrats on the new computer! Good job!!
