Gameplay and question about using Cheats Okay, here's what happened... my brother got onto my game when I wasn't home and built alot of families and homes in my town, he used cheats too. Does using cheats change the gameplay of the game other than just giving you money and allowing you to do stuff before you could actually do it. I mean does the game like label you a cheater or something or react differently? I have a backup of my "The Sims 2" folder, so could I move the current "The Sims 2" folder he messed with to another place and play the backup. Then if he wants to use the game I could move my "The Sims 2" to another place and replace it with his "The Sims 2" folder so he can't mess up my towns and games. Will that work? Would there be any problems? Oh, and I'd like to expand my town with more homes and stuff, could I use some of the homes from "mod2sims" site, I was looking at homes without custom content because all the custom stuff confuses and scares me with stuff i need to put on my computer. Has anyone done that, put downloaded homes in your town? After you download a house and put it in the download folder how do you get it into a lot in your town?
There are a number of cheats for sims2, and it depends on which cheats you are using. Different cheats allow different things to be done in the game. Cheats can be turned off after using them, and each time you quit the game, the cheat will auto turns off. And the game wouldn't label you as a cheater . I'm not exactly sure if any problem will arise with the folder replacing, but it may, since you will be doing it each time your brother or you plays, but I'm not entirely sure, so I cant help you with that sorry . And all stuff at modthesims2 are available to all for download as long as we do not claim the creations as ours and gain credit for them. Once you've installed a home, it will appear at the 'Lots Catalog' when you're in 'neighbourhood' view. Just select the home, and place it on the neighbourhood and you can move your sims in
Thanks for your answers sexierjess Okay, I've found a nice home on the modsims site (it came normal without hacks and customs) and installed it. It works fine except some rooms had no doorways, but that was simple to fix. But I have run across a major problem I think. The creator built the house with no room around it for a garage... duh? Is there anyway I can expand the lot to get a garage on it? Or move the whole house over to one side of the lot (I didn't see a select all) without taking the house apart and moving it piece by piece? It would be enough room if I moved it to one side. Any solutions besides rebuilding it or getting a new house?
There's no way to expand the current lot, once a home is built on a specific lot size, it remains that way and you cant just transfer the house on a new lot (sadly). The only solution is to move it piece by piece like you said. And you're most welcome
About your brother.... Have you thought about giving him his own custom neighbourhood? He can do what he likes with that and build the entire thing from scratch. I'm sure he'd enjoy it and it would keep him away from your own games. Cass.
That's a great idea, but see, he's an idiot and wont' admit to liking to play anything but shoot'em ups and stuff. He just seems to like to cause grief and thinks it's funny to fill my neighborhoods with idiotic stuff and mess with my well thought out sim interactions. Other than pouring a jar of fire ants in his bed while he sleeps, I thought switching the folders (since he wouldn't know it) would probably work because he'd still think he was messing up my game btw, so far so good, the switching hasn't caused any problems and seems to work like a charm.
My brother started a Greek mafia-type family in my neighborhood and now has started his own Sims 2 game on his own computer. He insists that I don't age the Sim that married one of my Sims until his Garko is an elder. Hahahahaha...who's going to play with Garko? I'll just use elixir of life on Alonso and Jade for the time being. :knockedout:
