Maxis Adds Bugs To The Game?

Sorry if this is posted in the incorrect place, but I recently heard that Maxis leaves the bugs in their games on purpose, that's why there is always a new patch up after releasing a new expansion etc. I was just wondering if there is any truth to that and if so where "proof" is?

If it's true, I support Maxis 110% because they are so loyal to us customers :D

Why would they leave bugs in the game, and then release a patch?

Maxis releases a patch after they have collected enough data from players, and the beta testers.

Each game thats made has its own bugs whether we like it or not. It just so happens that maxis can't track all bugs and fix them in time for the release. And another problem is, certain players games suffers a certain bugs, wherelse others don't. So they can't be testing every single game before releasing them right? There's just too much lol

Someone asked about the bugs in Sims2 before, and KatAnubis explained it very nicely, second post in this thread: http://forums.worldsims.org/showthread.php?t=10392.

I've always been amazed at how much abuse my game tolerates from me, considering all the downloads and fooling around with cheats and hacks. As the man said, "It takes a licking and keeps on ticking." :p

And with all the pictures I take (with heavy use of the pause button,) I am continuously astonished by the range of facial expressions and gestures made by the sims. Everything they do, even reading a book, is complex. The game is pure genius, bugs included (which often just add to the fun, anyway.)

There is no way that Maxis would deliberately leave bugs in their game if they had a way to fix them before release. These people are very proud of their work and would probably hang onto it forever before release just to fix everything they could. (Unfortunately, their bosses won't let them do that. They don't want to put out a game once every 10 years. They want them coming out about once every 6 months or so.)

However, that doesn't stop people from seeking a conspiracy theory to explain things that they don't like the answer to. And I think that sometimes when people put these sorts of theories out there, that they are just trolling to see how many people they can get upset.

Unfortunately, most people don't ask rational questions like you have. They just assume it's true and pass the rumor on to some other place as if it was fact (and then it takes on a life of its own!)
