PC uninstalled my neighbourhood Windows crashed after just quitting the game, restarted pc and when i loaded the game backup my neighbourood had vanished. So i quit out of the game and restarted the pc again and then windows scanned the pc and deleted what think was my neighbourhood, it gave some kind if sims description as to what it was deleting. It is a custom neighbourhood that has taken me months to build up. Is there anyway it can be rescued? :(
Hmmm ... what do you mean by, loaded the neighborhood backup? Did you reinstall over the game? Do you have a backup of the neighborhood elsewhere on your computer? I need more details. Usually when the system crashes I just run the game again. So far, even with crashing, things have been salvageable. Always have a backup. I make a habit of copying my recently played 'hoods to a backup folder at least once or twice a week. That way if everything crashes all is not lost.
Sorry, I mean when i re started the pc, and ran the game again my neighbourhood had gone. Have looked in my documents and all my user data seems to be there, but there is a dat file with registry details, and neighbourhood package file, both dated when it crashed, but i have no idea how to get this info back into my game. Tha game itself is ok, so have not uninstalled or reinstalled it, its just my custom neighbourhood thats gone
Start off by deleting the file called groups.cache in My Documents\EA GAMES\The Sims 2\groups.cache A corrupted groups.cache will screw up the game and will be regenerated if it is not there. Hope this helps.
