directx 9.0c error message hi, i am having major problems with the sims 2 to start up, i get the directx 9.0c error message, i have tried runing the game with updated drivers on x300, fx 5500 (91.xx), fx 5200 and an old geforce2 gts but with no reward. i have updated directx 9 as well, i installed windows again, tried the game on three different computers, tried installing java runtime, downloaded and installed the last patches from EA, tried the win98/me compatibility thingy, is there anything else that i could try?
may i know exactly the error message that is appearing? anyway.. it might be because of yiur graohics card not meeting the minimum requirenments... to be sure.. can you please provide your dx diagnostic report? To get this, simply click on Start, Run, and type in dxdiag, press enter. When it comes up, look in the lower right corner for a button labled "Save All Information..." and click it. This will gather your system's hardware profile and current driver information and save them to a .txt file (no sensitive, personal information will be in this text file). Save this file to your desktop.
failed to find any directx 9.0c compatible graphics adapters in this sytem! plase make sure you have a direct x 9.0c compatible graphics adapter and have installed the latest drivers provided by the manufacturer, the application will now terminate. Thats the error, and since i have tried out maybe different cards including farely new cards like the x300 and 6800 which are directx 9 cards, and do meet the min req, i guess that the problem is not in the card, so far i have only managed to run the game in windows xp and a very old motherboard, intels d815 seems to make to game run with even an ati's 9200se graphics card. my point is, why cant i play the game on my p4, which has an intel 101 motherboard.
I'm getting the same error... I've tried re-installing the DirectX driver, I've tried reinstalling the nVidia GeForce driver, then re-installing The Sims 2, and still no dice.
