Problems with downloads I've downloaded custom content that shows up, but a lot of times I'll download something like for example, if I download long black hair on my sim, when I go to put it on the sim (when designing), it'll be something that came with the sims 2 in the first place, not what I downloaded. Like a regular hairstyle. I also have a lot of things that never show up in the game that i've downloaded. Yes I have custom content on, that isn't the problem. I thought maybe it could be a corrupted file, but most things I download do this or fail to show up.
Did you also download the mesh for the long black hair? If the hairstyle that you downloaded is not simply a recolor of one of the styles that came with the game, then it will need the mesh as well. Sometimes the creator includes the new mesh with the download, sometimes not. For instance, one site I really like for hair is xmsims. However, the mesh is often on a separate page from the recolor. I assume that's because they have so many recolors of the same mesh.
