Help with RAM please Hey, My Sims 2 is being rubbish. It takes about 10 minutes to load different locations. (It looks like its just very laggy, it is not possible to play it) I have deleted a lot of programs on my computer, disk cleaned up, defragmented and scan disked but still there is not much improvement. I have made sure background tasks arent running and sorted out anti virus stuff. I think the problem may be because my "RAM" doesn't meet the minimum requirements. How do i increase the "RAM"? Thank you. (I think my current RAM is like 192 or something) Also i dont have an internet connection (I use public computers for the internet) so how else can i get video/sound card thingys? Iam so confused. I thought this was just a game that would load like any other but its crazy! Please give me any advice you can and thank you for reading this huge thing.
RAM and the "video card thingy" is not something you can download as it is hardware, not software. You haven't mentioned your other Specs but with a RAM as low as 192mg, it sounds like you may have other problems as well, such as a video card which shares the processor and RAM. (RAM in most computers is at numbers such as 256mb, 512mb, 1024mb, 1 gb, etc. When it is lower than that, you either have an older machine or a video card which is not T&L capable so it is "sharing" the RAm and processor of the computer.) Now if you need new drivers, that's not a big deal as long as your public internet place lets you make CDs or use a memory stick or the like. You download the driver to the desktop of the public computer, then save it to a portable device (such as a CD, memory stick, portable harddrive etc). Then you take the portable device and transfer the information to your own computer. (A floppy might hold it, but some of the drivers I've seen are above the capacity for a floppy.) But at this point, you need to list all your computer specs. i thought the minimum system requirements for the sims 2 was 512 MB. i remember trying to play the sims 2 on my old desktop with 256 MB and it took 15 mins to go from screen to screen. definitely upgrade RAM and possibly video card if RAM doesn't make it better.
