Game crashes at same point over and over... I have a question about my game crashing, here's all the important info.: 1)Processor: Intel Pentium M processor 1.60 GHz 2)System Memory: 504MB RAM 3)Windows Version: XP Professional 4& 5) Disk Space: 354 MB used, 864 MB free 6) Direct X Version: 9.0c 7) Video card: Mobile Intel 915GM/GMS, 910 ML Express (listed under both “name” & “chip type,” so I’m assuming that’s the info. you need to know for this one.) 8) Display name: ialmrnt5.dll, Version: 6.14.0010.3929 9) Video Memory: 128.0 MB 10) Game Detail: SIMS 2 CD, no other expansion packs 11) Problem: Ok, don’t know how much detail you need but…. The game is crashing at the same point over and over (I finally caught on and started saving it as soon as she started to moan). It crashes as one of my SIMS is giving birth. It happens after she starts moaning, while the “new family member on the way” notification comes up, and before the baby is actually born. However, it is just one particular family. I have no idea if this makes any difference but the SIM giving birth is an alien (Chloe Singles from Strangetown) and the father is also an alien (the son of the non-alien guy Pascal from Strangetown…the pregnant guy). Also in the family are the father’s three teens from another mother. The error message is “Application failed. Application will end now.” Anyway, it freezes like that for…..well, I’ve let it sit for about twenty minutes before terminating it through task manager. It also freezes the computer up after I try to end it with task manager, and I have to just power off the computer. I am downloading the latest patch as I write this [EDIT: A no-go on that, "error during installation"] , but the list of fixes doesn’t appear to include this problem. Also, I have spyware and virus programs, keep them updated, and run them frequently. My computer is up to date on Microsoft updates. Sorry if this has been addressed before, I read the FAQ and searched, and didn’t see it. Thank you for your help!
Is that family on a larger lot than the others. Your specs are very borderline. For a graphics card which is only an Intel one, you need at least a 2.0ghz processor. You're lucky to be able to play at all, since it's below specs. If you had a T&L capable graphics card, then you could get away with a minimum of 800mhz processor. However, none of the Intel are T&L capable. This type of graphics card depends on the ability to share the regular processor and RAM to work. Chances are that that family or its lot overwhelms your computer when it tries to do things which require more processing. You can get a little more out of it if you follow the performance things listed in your game manual. (Things like stopping all background tasks including your virus protection and connections to the internet, making sure that you have your graphics settings set as low as you can tolerate, things of that nature.) You are having problems common to most laptop users. That's why Maxis is coming out with a Sims which is better for laptops: Sim Stories. It's basically a cut down version of TS2 from what I can tell.
i also have a crash problem, i think its with the graphics card, i have a similar one called Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset blah blah blah and a 1.6 duo core processor also from intel. i get the same problem saying something about the graphics error. and i have to hit the power button to restart. it hasnt happened in awhile, i think its because i have the graphic setting to default which most of it is set to low. the graphics card that came with my laptop isn't very good, it can't even play counter strike source on it so thats most likely the crash problem.
