Changing Clothes for Teenages and Elders.

Before we start I would like to say I only have The Sims 2 and nothing else, I hope you consider that when giving me an answer.

Anyway, I know about the whole changing clothes lark, send my Sim down to a community lot, buy some clothes for themselves and go back home and put it in the wardbrobe. The sim can then change their clothes using plan outfit.

However, when ever I send an elder to buy clothes or a teenager it seems they do not have the option to plan their outfit - why is this, for this is anoying:
    i) The clothes pre-set for teenage and elder are normally ugly
ii) I spent the hard earned simileons on those clothes yet they dont appear.

So a solution? Is it because I have sent an elder to a community lot who has brought clothes for the rest of the household, including teenage clothes, meaning that they do not appear for the teenage in the house for they did not buy it themselves? But that cant be true, for my sim elder went and brought some new everyday elder clothes for himself, however when he gets home and places the clothes away a Plan outfit does appear.

Plan outfit does not appear for teenage or elders....do i need a patch or something, seeing as I have the original out the box Sims 2, (sorry, but EA's expanision packs are ridiclious, i already brought all the Sims 1 packs when they come out, first and at full price. _ )

Did you download the patches for the original game? Can't remember if there's more than one, sorry ... or even if there are patches for the base game, but you might want to check the official site. It's been a looooong time since I played just the base game.

Your sims should be able to plan outfits no matter what age (other than baby).

I'm not sure why it's not working for you, but looking for a patch would be my first stop if it were me.

Also, if you have downloads you may have one that's interfering with the game.

Like I said, i just have it straight out the box, with no patches.

I looked on the forum with no help.

I have no extra content for the Sims 2 what so ever. So it seems a patch is the way to go.

Any one has a link to one that would solve my problem and/or the latest one for the original Sims 2. Note, I would want an offical patch from EA - not a user created content or 3rd party programs.

The problems the patch states it fixes does not seem to match the problem I have, the cloest thing is:

But that I don't think that will apply to the teenage/Elder sims not being able to plan outfits, would it?

You should download the patch regardless to update your game. It might end up fixing it anyway.

If your Sim doesn't have at least 2 of the type of clothes, then the "plan" option will not come up. For example, you need to have 2 outfits or 2 tops or 2 bottoms for it to work. (And if you have either 2 tops or 2 bottoms, you must have at least one top and one bottom to get that option.) If you haven't bought enough clothes, then they can't "plan".

And get the basegame patch if you have the basegame. It really does make the game work better. (And without it, you won't be able to plan the clothes for the toddlers at all, no matter how many outfits you buy. That's one of the things which the patch is needed to do.)
