Sims Pets always crashes when saving My problem is that whenever I try to save a game (with any family) the game crashes, sending up a blue screen with white writing for a fraction of a second (too quickly to read) and rebooting the computer. This happens on all three save options (save, save to neighbourhood, save to quit.) This problem does not occur when exiting the lot without saving. Below is listed the information from the DirectX Diagnostic Tool. Display Device Name: Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chip Type: Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset DAC Type: Internal Approx Total Memory: 64.0MB Drivers Main Driver: ialmrnt5.dll Version: 6.14.0010.4497 Date: 07/02/2006 Sound Device Name: Realtek AC97 Audio Driver Name: ALCXWDM.SYS Version: 5.10.000.5830 Date: 19/04/2005 I am running Windows XP Home Edition with 502MB RAM, 1.7GHz Intel (R) Pentium(R) M Processor and approx 12GB free space on my main hard drive on an Acer Travelmate 2420 laptop. I have tried changing the resolution and colour of my screen to the lowest settings, Ive tried changing the sound acceleration to basic, Ive tried closing down every single non-essential program and nothing has helped. I have looked for updates for the drivers I have but I cannot find more recent versions. If you could help me with any suggestions I would be most grateful as I feel I have tried everything! Thank you very much.
Ouch. This is probably because you've waited a bit too long before saving. If you are low on the processor, graphics card or RAM, you'll need to save *very* frequently (as in about every 10-15 minutes of playing.) There's too much for the poor computer to save. You have fairly minimum specs for the game. TS2 requires that if you have a non-T&L graphics card like all the Intel video/graphics cards are, you need to have a minimum processor of 2.0ghz (as opposed to the 800mhz you'd need if you have a better processor, one with T&L capability, in your computer.) It's hard to have TS2 on a laptop. While there are some laptops where it works ok, for many it doesn't work well enough. It's why they're coming out with one with laptops in mind: Sim Stories.
Thank you for your help, although i am fairly sure it is not the length of play that is affecting it, as the same thing happens if i play for the length of time it takes to buy 1 item and try to save. Do you know what would be the cheapest/easiest way to remedy this problem?
