    Network Difficulties

<div style="color: #000080; padding: 2px;">Network Difficulties</div><div style="font-size: .9em; margin-bottom: 12px; border-bottom: 1px solid #000080; padding: 2px; border-top: 1px solid #000080;">Wednesday, August 6, 2003 by Kevin Stange</div><div style="font-size: 1em;">You may experience some continued network difficulties of the next few days while our service provider copes with some ICMP flooding and other Denial of Service style attacks. This attack affects all customers that are tied to the Yipes network lines, so our servers are not the only ones affected. Consequently, this is an issue receiving a great deal of attention.

At the moment our servers do not ping outside the hosting facility and may not for some time. This was done to block the ICMP flood traffic from reaching servers.

The move of our servers to a common switch appears to still be pending, but in the midst of several other network troubles, it's slightly difficult to judge reliably.

    I'll keep everyone posted.</div>

There is one thing I hate about the people who are involved with DOS attacks...

They like to kill your network...
but when there own site, email etc goes down they are the first people asking to get it fixed ASAP.

    btw, I've read this somewhere

I hope this gets fixed soon...
It takes quit a long time to download a small email..

I think, but only think, that we've changed switches...

a few days ago everything was down for some time
